Your Pet's A WHAT???

Recently, I read an article about two stupid young adults that broke into a house and one was attacked by the owner’s 150 lb. Pet cougar! He had all the legal paperwork to own it and if memory serves me he also had two large snakes and an alligator.
I started thinking what kind of animal I would like to have as long as it was legal and extremely well trained. I think I’d like a Liger. A liger is a breed of large cat that is a cross between a lion and tiger…the one in the picture is an actual one that weighs over 1000 lbs. I think it would be awesome to have one. Of course we couldn’t live in our apartment b/c a kitty like that needs space to move and we’d definitely not want to be in an area where there is a pooper-scooper law b/c I don’t see a kitty that big using a litterbox…or me cleaning it out LOL If I couldn’t have a liger I’d settle for any big cat like a cougar, panther, cheetah, etc. I think they are so sweet looking and elegant.
What kind of exotic animal would you keep as long as it was legal and extremely well trained? Would you have to move to have room for it?

I know they arent as elegant as some of the bigger cats but i would love to have a Bobcat. We have quite a few down in this area i live in. A liger would be a big kitty indeed to have in your house.
I am impressed with the cougar they are beautiful animals .I think the people who broke in got what they deserved. now watch them try to sure the guy.
Reminds me of someone breaking into my house in Bucklin,ks and then calling the cops on me because my Mastiff bit them . They didnt know she and her mate were in the house. Old Hank wouldn't have bit a flea , he would have invited the guy in to pet him. Rogue on the other hand was very protective of her home and family. One of the cops from sheriffs office went and talked to them about the door having been kicked in and asked them if they were sure they wanted to press charges since it was obvious that the door had been kicked, and the fact that we left the dogs in when we left and the dogs were out when we got home.

Hi there twoey. First of all i will start with saying that i would definitely need a new place to stay if i ever wanted to keep an exotic pet. I believe a tiger would be among the options but not necessarily the best one. I might also go for a wolf if, as you said, both would be very very well trained.

A cougar? wow, now that wouldn't be my choice even though I love the cat family. This is the first time I heard of a liger before I never knew they breeded them before or even could. Must have been an artificial insemination. I will stick to my little cats and miniature dogs those wouldn't scare me so bad if they decide to attack..lol

Cool discussion. I like those lynx cats. They look like they have beards. It's pretty cool. I think people might even actually have these as pets but I could be wrong. I dont know much about them but I just like the way they look. I could never have one because I have a young daughter but if I could we would definately have to move to a farm or somewhere that the lynx could run. We'd just fence our property in so he'd have lots of room to run and play and hunt. I tried to uplaod a pic but it wont work.

I don't think so, unless I win lottery
exotic pets will require money for paperwork, transporting, and caring more than regular pets
If I win lottery I would have homes for abandoned animals but exotic pets I think only celebrities that earn millions continuously, can afford that

I would just like to have a little dog as my pet .It would have
to be one that i could afford to take care of .The more i think
about it i might get me a chihuahua like Mr T that i had at one
time.I put his puppy pic on here in the chihuahua pics.
This time i think i would pick a female dog instead of a male.Who
knows maybe Santa will bring me one....lol

Hi twoey...if I could I would I would have a cheetah, they are lovely cats..and retract their claws so wouldn't be climbing up the curtains!!
Funny you should bring this up..my ex-hubby worked in Windsor Safari Park before it got closed down and there was a tiger who had cubs that had to be hand reared my ex actually brought one up and it went everywhere with him, his children used to ride on the tigers back!! One day he went to Woolworths and the tiger was with him she jumped out and walked calmy in there with him...the store was soon cleared!! She was sold by the Zoo for the Esso advert...then he hand reared a cheetah called Sonia..she was lovely she was about 2yrs old when she was sold by the Zoo to David Copperfield the Illusionist for his acts...so I would be quite hapy with a Cheetah....hugs littleowl

I think I would like any of the large cats.
I used to live near a place where the couple had exotic animals. After several years, the county had the license and permits taken away because they were afraid of them, nit because they were actually harmful or mistreated at all. I remember seeing a lion and a panther there and was told that he has a few other animals as well.
If I had any large exotic animal, I would have to move. I live within city limits and neither my hosue nor my yard is big enough to accommodate a lrge animal.
I just had a funny image. Imagine going home to cuddle on the couch with your liger!

I already own two pets that people deam "dangerous". I have two pit bulls and they can be scary enough at thier peek- so I'll just stick with them. Although I think it would be TOTALLY COOL to own a panther or a leapord...lol

I want a few hedgehogs. They are really sweet things.
I'll get a few after my garden is ready for them. It's not to hard to get them. They are everywhere around here. There is always someone who wants to relocate the ones in their garden.
They won't really be pets in the traditional sense, just wild things happily living in my nice safe garden with free food handouts.

I would have a tiger, any kind. I've loved tigers since I was born, I think. Yes I'd have to move to have one. I live in the city in a duplex. We barely have room for the 5 humans and 1 small house cat.
