Does anyone here blog for extra money?

I am curious how many bloggers we've got here on Mylot. I don't make a lot blogging, only probably about $100 or so a month, but it makes a difference... it's a paid bill and it's something of a hobby.
What do you blog about?
I blog a lot about life in France. It's interesting to me and it's my niche. Although, not a profitable niche, I have a lot of fun writing about it. I've also blogs in more profitable niches but they aren't as much fun to write about.
How did you get into blogging?
I was feeling a little on the political side and decided to start a political blog. One of my first blog posts was about the murders in Juarez, Mexico and it just went out from there. Now I've got several blogs in different niches.

I think you would earn more if you had your own blog like on blogger or something. It's also important to have your own url.

I have tried blogging, but I can't seem to find the right concentration to blog. I don't know where to start, what topic to concentrate on, how to maintain my blog. It really is good for you to receive at least $100 a month, at least you are receiving something in exchange for your time blogging. It's way to big to earn than here in myLot. I guess i have to stay here in myLot for some more time, maybe I could find here what I really want to blog. From there I'll be concentrating on that topic and create it as my own niche (as you call it).

If you ever find yourself interested in specific topics, then that is something to blog about. Perhaps you like cooking or you are interested in crafts. Maybe there are some political issues that just make you angry, these are all topics that are great for successful blogs.

nice to hear that you are able to make a 100 dollor per month from blogging..i am a newbie in blogging and experimented with 2-3 blogs and i didnt made anything from it...now i am thinking of a good subject of blogging and to develop my writing skills...

I just started blogging for MyLot and am hoping to make around 100-200 dollars a month. I want to blog abotu Nutrition, since I have a degree in it and feel like I have so much knowledge to share, especially with nutrition and weight loss being such a vague topic to the public. It is nice to know that it is possible to make a some extra money just by sharing our thoughts!

Nutrition is a very good topic to write about. There are a lot of nutrition blogs, but not very many good ones. I strongly recommend you get out there and write to your heart's content on nutrition.

Wow congratulations on making that kind of money, writing about something that is very interesting for you. A lot of bloggers would love to make that much, so you must be doing something right. I hope you can keep it up for a long while.
I run a website, that is kind of like a blog I guess. I am not making that much money at the moment, but I am very confident about the future of it.
I want to set up a few blogs, but need to find more time. They are great learning curves, as I am sure that you will agree.

Blogging is a part of my business mix. I use a combination of sites I own with domain name and hosting, also Web 2.0 sites like squidoo and blogs. Blogs are great because they can get indexed quickly and give a consumer/reader a face to identify with.

I have 2 blogs but so far it haven't made me a lot of money. Making money via blog is hard but it is possible. My blogs are in the entertainment and education niche. I'm just blogging to express my opinions and views in life.

I am a blogger too. I was inspired by my friends who earn money out of blogging. So I get one too. I join a lot of paying blog site. but my site is too new that I wasn't being accepted. It made me sad though. But I will wait. Its not the end of time yet. But my friend can earn more than $200 or more a month. It really helps them a lot. And I would love to earn too in the future.

hmm, actually i could use your help on this topic of blogging. i actually wanted to set up a blog here, but i'm not very sure how to do so. lets say i have an existing blog and now i use mylot to claim my existing blog. does that mean that whatever my existing blog used to be claimed by is gone? because i'm not sure about this claiming function.
anyway, i do have a blog too. in fact, my brother and i blog over the internet. he maintains a blog helping people to learn the songs (christian-focused) they want my tabbing them out. i complement it by posting up videos over youtube so people can listen and also learn visually. my blog on the other hand, focuses on teaching aspiring musicians how to play the guitar.
