Do you ever get white spots on your nails? What are these and what can you do to help them?
I just noticed that on a few of my nails I have white spots, my nails otherwise are healthy and strong but I was wondering what I could do about the white spots. Any suggestions?

The majority of white spots on fingernails are caused by a previous injury to the nail bed. They can be loosely compared to bruises on the skin. However, it could be a vitamin or mineral deficiency or a fungus so you may want to check with your doctor.

white spots on the figure nail are most commonly an injury to the nail bed underneath much like a bruise. It can also in some cases be a type of infection or allergy from acrylic nails, nail polish remover or nail hardener. Some people will claim its from not getting enough zinc and its not to say this is impossible but if zinc is the issue then you should notice other symptoms such as weakness of the immune system and loss of hair. See the doctor

I think those white spots are just trauma marks. While you nail is still developing, it probably got hit by something which caused the white mark.
Could be wrong, but have you ever noticed you don't get them on your toenails?

I read on a magazine that the white spot on nails mean that your body is lacking of some vitamin. by the way, the white spot will disappear after 2 - 3 weeks, so you dont need to worry so much ^^

Usually can be attributed to injuries to the nail bed, sort of like a bruise on the skin.

Ok first you get my mothers version of this dilema....She says that every white spot indicates a lie that you told! LOL
Now medically I think it means you have damaged your nail bed at some point and they do disappear within a week or so. Or maybe if you tell the truth they disappear depends on who you ask! LOL
