What's the deal with that? I have 2 teacup Chihuahua but I was recently doing some research and found AKC only recognizes Chihuahua. Not teacup not toy and not standard. Just Chihuahua Isn't then the Chihuahua the only breed not catagorized by it's breed size? Why is this?

Hello JenInTN
I had no idea that the teacup, toy, nor standard Chihuahua were not recognized by the American Kennel Club. I wonder why that is? Did you ever find out?

The most I could find out about it was that they could not control certain genetics where size of the dog and the length of the hair was concerned. It is quite random how these dogs turn out. Of course there is more of a chance that two little ones will have little ones but if the two little ones have one large puppy..well..it goes from teacup to mini or standard in a moment.
