Grandparents who spoil grandkids!

If you are or have ever had grandparents, I want to know if you spoil or were spoiled by them. I personally, have only one set of grandparents. I did have the other ones, on my father's side, but they lived at New York and we never got to see them. The grandmother was gone before I was even born, though. The living grandparents speak little English, so I just never really got very close to them. My grandmother often took care of me when I was younger, but a lack of communication made it so we didn't really do much except go to dollar stores and watch cartoons, and eat scrambled eggs. She also would give me a few dollars on holidays. I don't think I really wanted toys too much when I was a young child. I loved to play with baby dolls, but for the most part I didn't really want more than I had, I really got plenty and I normally got whatever I wanted. But I never really feel comfortable to this day to ask my parents for things, and I don't know why. It went the same for my grandparents. I didn't want to look like a spoiled kid, I wanted to be likable, I think.

I was spoilt by my grandmother. But the worse thing I have ever seen is my little nephew. He is not spoiled by his grandparents but by his daddy. The other day his daddy was in a chair and he said get out of my chair and his daddy got up and let him have it. Talk about spoilt. and he is only two!

Aww, the chair incident was probably really adorable though! But it's at an early age that a child has to learn to be well-adjusted, so hopefully the dad will learn soon!

No, I wasn't spoiled by my grandparents - they were in another country for most of the time while I was growing up. We don't spoil our grandchildren either because they have absolutely everything money can buy - and more. There is nothing I could give them - except my time.

I think that the grandparents who don't see their grandchildren very often are more likely to spoil them when they do see them. My mum only sees my children about 4 times a year, so when she does see them she likes to buy them things and take them places.

My grandparents, from both side of the family, had a hand in taking care of us when we were young. However, none of them spoiled us. Although, they were still more lenient compared to my parents. lol

I didn't know my grandparents on my Mom's side. On my Dad's side, we visited them often but we weren't spoiled by them. I have a new grandbaby - 4 months old and so far I don't spoil him. Hard to say what I will do when he gets older LOL. Being the only grandchild he will probably get a little spoiled.
