Do you like to read science fiction? What about fantasy? If you like both you will love the books written by Ann McCaffrey. The first book of hers that I read was entitled 'The Dragon Riders of Pern'. In this book Ann weaves a story of seemingly primitive people that had a telepathic relationship with huge dragons. These dragons and their human riders flew through the sky to protect the planet from a plague of parasites that rained down from space periodically.
I don't know exactly how many books she's written in this series but I'm sure I've read every one at least once. I have found her world of Pern to be a good place to escape my own mundane little world for a while.
Her son Todd McCaffrey, who was raised on the stories of Pern, has written at least two books, so far, of his own based on the planet and characters. He is every bit as gifted a writer as his mother.

I've read the series completely, multiple times in fact. I grew up reading the Pern novels and also jump started my art because of these wonderful stories. I wasn't sure how Todd would do with the novels but after reading them he does have his mother's gift of Pern. I can't wait to read the rest of his novels!

It's good to meet someone else who likes this author as much as I do. I consider Pern my home away from home. I, too am glad that Todd shares his mothers gift. I hope that means we can look forward to many more stories from Pern.
Have you read any of Ann's other series like 'The Crystal Singer' and 'Acorna'?
