as much as we heard these days about what happened to the U.S. economy, it is so devastating to hear a very powerful country went to a recession. so bad timing that my me and my parents are called for the final step in our immigration application petitioned by my grandmother 18 years ago.. yeah, that long huh.. it was very surprising for us coz we started processing our U.S. immigrant visa 5 years ago back when i was still 19 yrs. old, since then we never heard any follow ups from the embassy until last september.. which was the final step, medical checkups and interview.. tomorrow is our interview appointment and I'm a bit apprehensive on what questions will be ask. i've been memorizing my grandmother's home address in illinois and even her phone number..(hehe, just in case..) and I'm expecting questions like am I still interested to go on with the application despite the recession?, do you think it is still a wise decision to come to U.S. and still have high hopes for my future? or.. am I better off here in the Philippines..? do immigrants still have a future in a country where companies and financial institutions closed and many went jobless..?

I'd say, Go For It! Yes, we are in a recession and things may get worse before they get better. But, I think America is still a great place to make a start for anyone from anywhere. Unless of course you are incredibly wealthy and living the high life in the Phillipines. So long as you realize that the streets are not paved with gold and things can be tough (finding a job, especially) then you should come on over
