Choice of colors

Color is an interesting thing in the world. So many colors there are although there are seven colors of which we have learned in the school-books. Another thing is that different people like different colors. To some blue is favorite and some other prefer green or violet or red and so on.
Something then definitely happen in the mind of the persons who select a particular color as his choice. I want to know what this thing is that works behind our change in the choice of colors. Will you please tell me?

Well to me. . .
Red means danger.
Yellow means alertness, or warning.
Blue means calm/serenity, since it reminds me of the ocean.
Green means envy to most people but it could stand for something else.
Purple can represent royalty.
etc.
I don't know how they exactly contribute to the human personality and such but I think it depends on an individual's point of view.

I also do not know exactly. I have some vague ideas developed from what I have heard from others. Still colors have some role to shape our mind. But the interpretations have been different. Red, for example, points to danger and also to love. Thus.
