I have Heard that some want the word Christmas to quit being use. What's up with that.If you take the word christ away then your taking away what it stands for right? Christmas is the celebration of Christ birth. and I belive in God if you do not choose to celebrate this birth then don't but don't go changing something that has been around forever. Do you agree that it should be MERRY CHRISTMAS not Happy Holidays or season greeting?

I don't think it should be either Merry Christmas OR Happy Holidays OR Season's Greetings. I think all of them are acceptable! I am a Christian and I celebrate Christmas, but I have a few Jewish friends who celebrate Hanukkah, and I certainly am not going to wish them a Merry Christmas if they don't celebrate it. ;P That being said, it makes me really angry when people say that things like nativity scenes and putting "Merry Christmas" in shop windows is offensive. If you don't celebrate the holiday, that's okay. That doesn't mean you should be OFFENDED by other people who celebrate it! But they can never FORCE us to stop saying Merry Christmas.
On a related note, my mom had the idea that we should all send Christmas cards to the ACLU, because they are the ones who are always making cities take down their Christmas trees and stuff like that. I think it's a good idea. xD

Here's my perspective:
First - I don't think they can "take the word Christmas away". It's just not possible - if people want to keep using it, they'll keep using it. It's not like you can stop them ;-)
Second - for it to specifically refer to Christmas - I don't see why it would be changed, Christmas is a religious Christian holiday. NOT calling it Christmas would be pretty dumb.
Third - It's important to remember that Christmas isn't the only holiday that happens during the winter months. For example, there's also Channukah. When you're in a setting with a mixed group of people, it's just friendlier to wish them all a "happy holiday" because that way, even if they aren't Christian, they still feel like you want them to have a happy holiday season, no matter what their religion may be. It's easier and more business-smart for companies to have a line of Happy Holiday type products because a wider range of people are going to buy them, and as far as stores go, it's also easier and more business-smart to simply wish your customers a Happy Holiday - so everyone feels included.
That said, I hope you have a merry Christmas ;-)

I had been to a place (a city) where people don't mention christmas or merry christmas at all, they used to be but they changed recently because they have a new policy that they don't want to offend people who don't believe or celebrate christmas. So instead of saying to somebody merry christmas they say it happy holidays and they don't even have christmas lights or christmas trees in their houses even they are christians just because of this policy or rule.

That is so sad because they are letting others rules thier beliefs, they are trying to take god out of everything I feel that if they do this they are letting evil in plus how are the children suppose to learn no wonder teachers have a tough time and kids are shooting people. You have the right to say god bless you...Merry Christmas etc. If it's what you choose and belive in.

I believe you can say whatever you want. I see both sides of the argument. For one thing, there's no proof that it's Jesus' actual birthday. However, if that's what you're celebrating, I think you should say "Merry Christmas". The only thing I don't like about it is that nonChristians say it, and it hurts me because I know the words basically mean nothing to them, nothing like what the words mean to me. It makes me sad...
