I work for a maintenance company. We do general maintenance on gas stations in our area and some stores in the malls. We do things like fix tile flooring, change high light bulbs, paint, and so on.
Well because of Black Friday coming every one is calling and wanting things RIGHT NOW! They should have called before. Our guys have been working 12-15 hour days this week because of all the calls we are receiving! The thing is most of these problems should have been taken care of weeks ago!
So is Black Friday effecting your job? How so??

It didn't affect my job in the least but this one kid that works for circuit city said that all the workers not only had to show up for work very early but they were forced to work a 14 hour shift with not one break for any of them. The ones that didn't up and quit have filed a lawsuit. It's all ridiculous & materialistic. The stores are greedy and so are the people that buy into this ridiculous thing. A man was killed and I heard a woman lost her baby in the madness of all this.

We have this friday off from work. Wednesday was crazy. Getting two days of work done in one day. I went nonstop, didn't take lunch and got out on time because I had a ton of thanksgiving stuff to do. today I'm feeling it all - super tired and run down.

I wish we did but we have been SO busy they said we just couldn't take the extra day off. We are so busy we actually asked if any one wanted to work ON Thanksgiving!! Of course no one did but wow what a week last week was. And this coming week will be twice as bad!

I live in Canada so Black Friday doesn't affect me much at all. But I do know that working the service sector is difficult when it comes to holidays and busy shopping times. My father owns a cleaning/maintenance company and he experiences similar busy times before the holidays start to gear up. People always leave stuff to the last minute and then moan and complain when all his workers are booked and they have to wait! Procrastination is a horrible habit that many people have and it makes the world a much harder place to live in.

I don't understand why people have to wait till the last minute! It makes me nuts becuase then it has to be done right away. These people want every thing done right now and they are calling it emerganceies but I have REAL emergencies like a store called that had no power ... thats an emergency!

I am working in a restaurant. This restaurant happens to be right next to a Walmart, so we are likely going to be extremely busy. Other than that, it will be just a normal day of work to me.

Black Friday is the biggest SALE day of the year. They call it 'black' Friday because its about the time that companies go into the black (financially) for the fiscal year. All the sales start before dawn. A lot start around 4 am and some start 12 am Thanksgiving night.
