Are you shopping on Black Friday?

I've just decided that I definitly am shopping on Black Friday. I wasn't sure until I saw the Walmart circular that just came in the mail. A Magnavox Blu Ray player for $130! There are actually a number of things I'd like to get from these sales. I'm kicking myelf now because I bought my daughter's Easy Bake Oven last week for $20 and now it's on sale at K-Mart for $15. There are quite a few other toys I'd like to have, unfortunatly after I buy the Blu Ray player, I'm only going to have $150 for groceries, which I can make work, I've done it before. But I don't want to spend any more than that. So I'm just going to get the Blu Ray and get out, unless I can scrape up more money between now and then. What are you going to get?

All I can say is - GET THERE VERY EARLY! and I do mean early - like hours before the doors open - there WILL be a line! And supplies are extremely limited! The prices are indeed GREAT! But decide exactly what you want and run straight for it - if you want more than one thing - bring your kids and have them go grab it! But it IS kinda fun - IF you like that kind of excitement! Good luck and have a good time! :)

I've done this once, and it was years ago. I arrived an hour early and the line was to the back of the parking lot already. Luckily the items I wanted were not anything everyone was after, so it was easy to get my hands on them. My kids are all too little to bring with me, they'll just slow me down. I am wondering though if I should go to the 24 hour Walmart, or the one that won't open the store until 5am. I'm wondering if the 24 hour one will be more difficult to get my item since people can get there early and wander around the store, holding onto the item until they can cash out with it.

I was at a Kohls last year on Black Friday. There had to be at least 500 in line an hour before the doors opened. My wife and daughter are going this year. I will wait and shop when it is not so crowded actually. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You are only talking about $5 on the EBO but if you are there anyway, buy the one for $15 and next week - take the other back ....if you have your receipt. I doubt I'll be there on Friday - they say they hae those great sales but don't mention they only have 2-3 in the store available! I learned that the hard way. I saw today on the news that a local Best Buy near by has people campingo ut already for the friday sales - tents and camping out - already started today. I knw most of it is just for the fun of something to do but I have to wonder if the stores really appreciate it as those campers are there for today and tomorrow while they have customers coming in.

I'm not worried about the $5 on the Easy Bake Oven. I am worried about the store not having enough blu ray players, but the year I did go black Friday shopping they seemed to have a decent number of the big ticket items. I'm going to get there early and pray I get the one I want, that is the first thing I'm going to shoot for, then there are a couple toys I'd like to pick up for the kids, but if I don't get those it's not a huge deal. I really just want the blu ray.

I have never gone shopping on Black Friday. I am not sure I want to start. I would have to drag the kids with me and that is not something they need to deal with either. I will wait until after Black Friday to get the rest of the things on my list.

There is nothing I need to make me go out on Friday after Thanksgiving! And, to get that $130 deal on the Blu Ray player, I'd advise you to be there EARLY. They won't have many and they'll be gone later in the morning. And, there is no way I'd be there early to get run over by the herd, which is what usually happens at the doors.

Yep, I'm thinking of getting there at least an hour before the doors open, perhaps earlier. Since it is a blu ray player they'll be gone real quick. I may end up going to the 24 hour Walmart so I can at least hang out inside the store until they let us into the areas where the sales are.

I always go on Black Friday. Here's the way Wal-Mart works in our area. The pallets of sale items will be brought to the main middle aisle between 2 and 3 am. They are placed there and wrapped in black plastic. They will not allow the line to start forming until 4 am and if you have been observing you will know which pallet holds your item. At 4 am start lining up next to your pallet. Your selected item will probably be near the back close to the photo center. There is usually only one pallet of the item so get ready to grab and move on. I know, I am way too familiar with this thing! LOL We have a team and I am on the Penny's crew but my contact will be encountering you at Wal Mart I'm sure. The digital camera is on my Wal Mart list! Good Luck and have fun!

I do plan to get there around 4am, so hopefully I can get my item. The blu ray player is the one I'm really concerned about. I have a few other things I'd like to pick up, but they aren't as important. Thanks for this information. Keep my fingers crossed that I get the blu ray player :)

Yes, I know...it can get crazy on that day. I've seen people going around taking stuff out of other peoples carts, and people have actually started fighting while waiting for the doors to open, thats why I usually don't go, but this year, theres some things on sale that I just don't think I can pass up if I can help it. I'm going to hang onto my items, like you would a football, going for a touchdown..lol.

I went once and it really wasn't that bad, but I wasn't going for any big ticket item. It was about 3 years ago and the only electronic item I wanted was a DVD player for my mom, but it was no trouble getting it. The rest were toys that people don't really make a huge deal out of. The hardest part was trying to make it through the store with my cart. This year I will not have a cart, I'm only grabbing a couple things. I will grab the blu ray player first if I can, then go for some toys. I plan to get there very early to grab my blu ray player.

We just started doing the black friday thing. this year will be our third year doing it. I always saw the news footage of people being trampled and didn't think it was worth it to go. But we went last year and it went fine. They do it different at our walmart. Since it is open 24 hrs they just let people in. You walk around and find what you want and then stand by it. You aren't allowed to put anything in your cart till 5am. Then everyone just puts the stuff in their cart and walks around. The worst part is the traffic through the isles but it isn't that bad. I want to get the girls the playdough sets they have and Logan the hotwheels cars.

I had been debating if it would be best to go to a 24 hour Walmart, or one that won't open until 5am. I have both nearby. I was planning on going to the one that didn't open until 5 because I'm worried that my item will be gone by the time I get to it, but now I'm changing my mind. Since I can stand by my item, I might just go to the 24 hour one.

Unless someone is real generous to me and gives me that, I won't be doing any Black Friday activities. just won't. Love too. Enjoyed it while I could do it but won't this year.

Well I wasn't going shopping Friday either, most of the time I don't. But I seen the Walmart circular too, and now I'm thinking I might go. I seen the 19 inch LCD HDTV TV for 178.00, and we've been needing a new tv to replace the old one in the bedroom, and I seen the 500 thread-count sheet sets for 20.00, including king size, thats what we need, thats a good buy, considering king size sheet sets are from 35.00 to 55.00 any other time. So I may be hitting the stores early Friday morning, if I can get myself to get up, I like getting my sleep too..lol.

I want to shop on Friday because it's the first year that I won't be working during the sales. I won't be able to go though because we are broke.

This will only be the second time I've done it. First time was about 3 or 4 years ago. Usually we are too broke to do it also.

No, I have to go to work so I will not be going. Now that I think about it I never go shopping on Black Friday. I hear that you can catch a lot of sales and save a lot. Maybe one year I will shop on Black Friday.

Since I have a bunch of credit cards I don't worry about budgeting as much for Black Friday. But I should! Because I only worked one day this week due to the holiday and I don't get paid for holidays. I'm definitely shopping on Black Friday, but I'm not sure where yet. Last year I did Kohl's to get their roll up piano for $30. This year I'm not sure where the deals I want are. I already have a Blu-Ray player since I got the PS3. But there are a lot of computer things I'd like.
