College Student Home Buying

So I've been really concerned and excited about buying a piece of property or a home for myself when I get out of college. I don't currently have enough money for a down payment or anything, but I am extremely tired of renting and moving year after year of college. However, I don't know if I'll stay in Chicago for very long after my graduation because of the field I'm going into. Have any of you bought a home while in college or right after? What's it like and what should I look for/be aware of? Anyone have any input?

I forgot. :( I also wanted to tell you have more than 20% of a down payment ready. In doing this, you'll get better loans and rates. Also, if you have more then 20% of the house, you'll have enough to cover the things that come up. Repairs, ect.

I'm looking into buying a home. I have a pretty decent down payment. Here's some advice for you, that helped me. keep your house savings in a cd. You'll get more interest on them and won't be able to tap into them. Another thing is hold off on buying until you know where you'll be working. I know I'll be working in upper NJ and am buying a house in NY. So, I know I can commute. Just do research and save. Don't listen to others, realtors, ect. Have your own knowledge.
