We all know that clothes are important to human beings. Some animals even wear it when it gets too cold in the winter. The more season we experience it seems the more clothes we need to dress up appropriately. Yet seasons don't change in a month's time. In this time of economic crisis, how often do you buy clothes? Do you think you can live without buying clothes for a month or two?

I already bought almost all my winter clothing. It was a few pairs of thermals and a new winter robe. I still need a new pair of winter shoes, but that will be all until spring. I don't buy very many clothes and frequently go months without anything new.

I buy mostly when I need something. We don't have a lot of end of season sales on basics like thermals or coats in my town. They are usually all gone by the end of the season. We only have 3 cold months. This December has been really mild so far. Sweater weather most days. January and February will be cold. By March it will be warm again.

Yes thermals are very useful for the winter. That would be very wise to buy your winter clothes on springtime since they will drop the price for already out of season clothes. You can keep them and use them next winter at any rate seasons come and go and will never go out of style.

Yes, I frequently do. In fact, I very rarely buy clothes. Maybe 4 times a year at most. I hate going to the mall.

Hi hibiscus, after graduating from the college and worked in a firm. When I got my salary by the end of the month definitely I would spend lots of my money purchasing clothes and shoes in the shopping mall together with my colleagues.
All the three of us had the similar sizes of clothes and shoes so we would try to put on the new clothes and shoes and had our cat walk in front of the mirror in our room. It was really a great fun by doing this. We did feel pleasant and satisfy as well when looking our new appearance in the mirror.
When getting older I buy new clothes only before our grand festive season. I like to visit outlets and do my purchasing during the on sale season and very often I could get good quality clothes and shoes with much lower price.
Have a nice day and posting.

Right, when getting a bit older, stylish and fashioned clothes are not so important to me as well nowadays. I don’t spend any of my leisure time just to look for any clothes of the trend at the moment anymore like what I like to do during my younger days.
What I prefer most now is comfortable, simple, and relaxing, so t-shirts and blue jeans are more convenient and more suit to me. Of course we still have to do some, a bit latest clothes shopping once in a while or during on offer season so that our appearance don’t look out of the swim and would look rather weird
Yeah, we hope we could save at least some expenses during this recession period. Take care and happy posting.

Yes, I do believe shopping clothes comes with age. As we grow a little older it won't be on the list of our top priorities anymore. I love sale season.

I very rarely buy clothing for myself, so that is an easy yes. I lost quite a bit of weight a couple of years ago and have yet to buy new dress clothes. I don't even own a dress, I don't think. I have skirts that I wear, but not a dress. I do buy for my grandkids all the time, but find the clearance or marked down ranks.

Most of my old clothes I gave to a friend of mine who is just a little bit bigger than I am and she could use them. Recently my oldest sister gave me 4 huge bags of clothes that she can't wear anymore.........that are now too small for her since she gained weight, and I went through and got the few things I could wear, and gave the rest to my daughter and the same friend. My daughter kept only one top, the rest didn't fit or like me, she didn't like them. I still have some at home to get rid of.

I do more often times buy clothes for my children than for myself. it always give us a good feeling to think about others. Your other clothes can still be useful if you lost weight than if you gained weight. Nowadays clothes would be an added bill to pay. Better be a wise spender. I do believe you are.

Yes, I can. I don't buy clothes very soon. I mean I buy a dress only once or twice a year. and I don't have any problem putting on the same clothes again and again. You can say that I am a bit stingy when it comes to clothes. but that is how I am.

I see. Did you know that buying clothes and wearing new dreams gives you a new sense of confidence in who you are? I think that's the reason a lot of women buy clothes more than men but there are really people who are not into clothes.
Thanks for your response.

Yes, I can live without buying clothes for 2-3 months. I buy clothes 2-3 times a year, I get whatever I want then. I hate shopping so maybe that's the reason I buy myself clothes that seldom.
On the other hand, I must buy panties every 2-3 weeks. I love buying panties :"

I have a closet full of clothes. The only time I buy new is when I find something on clearance and the price is too good to pass up. It wouldn't be difficult for me to not buy something for a month or two.

Yes I can go more than that without buying clothes. I don't have to buy clothes every month to be happy. I have few pairs of jens and don't buy more until I get holes in one or something happens to a pair. I think some people shop to much. I have clothes I am going to give to the goodwill or salvation army because I don't wear them and my husband as well and we are going to stop just buying because something is on sale.

It's nice to know that you can go more than that. That sounds amazing. It's true some people do shop too much to make them happy. Giving it to goodwill is one good suggestion for some clothes that can't be worn anymore. Recycling with a good cause so they say.;-)

Hi! It's been three months since I bought new clothes, so I can say that I can survive not buying clothes for a month or two. I think it's okay for me because I have a lot of clothes and some of them I haven't even worn yet. I had a bad habit before of buying many clothes which I don't really wear. I guess that worked for me somehow because it's been hard these days in terms of finances, so I can manage without buying clothes every month.
Happy myLotting!

I haven't bought myself a piece of clothing for two months now. So that's a yes :) I'd have to break that chain though because I need a special kind of shirt for a birthday party this weekend - it's a party theme thing :P
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Wow, that is really great savings if you did not buy clothes for two months. Sometimes I do buy clothes out of impulse buying and don't even mind wearing them. If you need a shirt go for it. After all you have enough or for more than a shirt. lol. you have nice discussions oyenkai, youre welcome.

i could live without shopping for a month or two. i live in Trinidad and Tobago and we only have 2 season the dry season and the wet season, so i don't need as much clothes as people live in countries with 4 seasons.
i'm also not into fashion and what's in and what's out. i'm more like a guy i don't shop that much for clothes.

I see. I did live in a 2 seasons place before but since we moved in the US recently I have to buy clothes because the seasons keep on changing. I have to dress appropriately so I will not get sick.

I can easily live without buying clothes for months. I can't remember the last time I bought some new clothes. I think that if I was constantly changing clothes sizes, I would need to buy more but that isn't really a problem for me. I have a large amount of clothes anyway, and I love changing outfits by diy'ing the clothes, or changing accessories.
I think in the current economic climate, new clothes should be one of the first things people cut down on, or at least start to look at selling some of their existing clothes to pay for the new ones.

It is not difficult for me to go for many months without buying clothes. It's less of a money thing than it is an "I hate clothes shopping" thing. I feel uncomfortable shopping and would rather just go to the ultra-clearance rack at Target when I have to.
And I have LOTS of clothes! It's just that when I shop for them, I stock up.

I think I can control not to buy clothes too often, but when summer comes, the colorful beach dress is so so so so so attracted! It's like they are saying hello to me and ask me bring'em home :-p
