Last sunday a local charity group had a book sale (new and used books) and as we all read a lot we decided to go have a look and expecially since my son was bored by his books and needed new reading material. Imagine my suprise when I was told the books were $1 aus for a kilo we ended geting just over 21 kilos of books and that includes some 60 books for my son (kids books). Anyway have you seen this before? How many do you think would you get? Is it a good idea?

$1 for 1 kilo of books--that sounds like my idea of heaven! I am always in search of new reading material and I usually come away with an armload of books at local garage sales, rummage sales, thrift stores, you name it.
I have gone to many rummage sales where they sell clothing by the bag--usually fill a bag for anywhere from $3 to $8. I take advantage of these too. I have learned how to stuff the bags in a way to get as many clothes in each bag as possible (the secret is to roll the clothes).
However, the idea of books by the kilo is one I have never heard before, but it is a great idea! Too bad there isn't a way to roll the books and squeeze in a couple of extras...

I will tell you a way rip all the unnecesary pages off :))))) it was wonderful to see it and I noticed most people reacted the same way I did "what do you mean $1 a kilo" so its not that common around here.

I've heard of book sales like this before. I had a few friends that went and dove in head first for books...lol I stayed clear away because I have a terrible addiction to books. I see, I pick up, I buy. I have enough books in my own home to have a books by the pound sale myself. I also know of a place that has used books that you can go into and take as many books as you want for no charge. You can take them out by the trash cans full if you like. I went in, with my little fold-able shopping cart and had to replace the cart when I got home because one of the wheels broke off...lol

I wouldn't have a clue how many we would get. Our problem would be where we'd put them.
