Hi! I have an American friend who is currently residing here in Philippines actually,he's a classamate in highschool. He is inviting us over to his place to have a Thanksgiving dinner since he is all alone to celebrate it.I want to bring or at least bake something but I don't have the idea what are the usual desserts being served during thanksgiving aside from apple pies or crumbles. Please, can you recommend or suggest something that would go along with turkey.Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thankyou

Hi Belle!Yeah,we don't celebrate thanksgiving here in PI that is why we don't have the big picture of what are the usual foods and desserts being prepared, cooked, baked. For all I know definitely turkey would always be their main dish.Anways,we have our own versions of thanksgiving here, like our fiestas and definitely our undying delicious Filipino foods.thanks for responding.

yes, fiesta is most famous event here in the philippines. if in US they have turkey here, in the philippines we have lechon or roasted pig that is always present during fiesta.

Hi! It went well.We had a very memorable dinner actually, because one of the guests was also a dear friend but for some unknown reason we were not talking for a few months. We talked and tried to patch that unknown hostility ahhah.Aside from that superb dinner,I'm so thankful that we were able to reconnect again.I just feel so relax and calm being with my friends since we started our friendship since highschool.I really love these people :-)And going back from the food I brought,it was a chocolate mousse, apple crisp and cheesecake.I would love to try next time the pumpkin and egg pie. Thanks for responding

In my family for Thanksgiving desert we usually have pumpkin pie. We also have some other dessert also. This year I am making pumpkin pie, apple pie, and a jell-o desert. I am sure whatever you bring your friend will appreciate it. Just having you there to keep him from being alone I think would be enough.

Usually what I make for the dinner is chocolate mousse I know it's unusual but one year my aunt made it and ever since I have been making it to go along with our dinner. It's a nice rich dessert and you can only eat a tiny bit because it's so sweet and smooth.

HiAmberina! yeah mousse cake was one of the desserts I brought. It was really so yummy. You're right if I am going to follow the usual instructions in preparing the mousse it would be so sweet. But I just reduced the sugar,so it was just right for our taste.Thank you for responding.

I would make sure that he is not already planning on having pumpkin pie before you make it, it is kind of expected on Thanksgiving and he might already be planning on buying it. Something interesting that he might not be making already is pineapple stuffing, not really a desert but really good. Here's some recipes if you're interested: http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,pineapple-stuffing,FF.html

HI Nhey!thank you for the link.I checked it out and it looks so yummy.I just can't understand why cranberries and other berries are so costly here in our place and definitely they are rarely available to most of our groceries here.I hope I can try that one too.thank you for responding

Hi! thanky you for the suggestion,I'll definitely check it out if I still can make it.Actually I haven't tasted a pumpkin pie but sounds delicious. Here in PI,we really don't celebrate it that's why I don't have any idea but instead the Christmas holiday. Thanks again.
