If you were told you had to go in for major surgery how would you react? I would to today in 2-4 months I will be going under the knife and I am bit relieved but apprehensive for it is my first time. I howver good 3 opinions before I decided to agree on the surgery. But still it is scary.......

I'm glad that you have researched and have 3 opinions before agreeing to surgery. I would ask the doctor if there is anything you could do to prepare for surgery. Alsp talk to your doctor about taking vitamin C, this is an important vitamin as it helps to build cells and may help in recovery time. Good luck with everything Jacks

the first surgeon was more interested in the money and that got the ball rolling. I actually take a good supply of vit C for my other medical condition requires it to help protect my conective tissue.

My firs encounter with the knife was when I gave birth via CS. I had to have a CS scheduled so I knew and I had a bout 4 months to psyche myself up for the operation. O the day itself, I was still calm but as I was placed on the operating table itself, I started to feel the nervousness set in. LOL! I was awake the whole time. I'd rather liked to be awake and aware of what was being done to me that being knocked out cold.

I know its too late to response with this, but If I am in your position I will be very afraid for my body too. I don't like the idea of my skin be cutted and blood everywhere. But we have to have a faith on our surgeon because they are specialized in that area and they know what it has to do.

i would also be scared if i would be the one to undergo a major surgery. the name itself connotes something very big and maybe that's the cause of your anxiety, i know i would be. but it is not that scary if you have done your homework. for example, finding out the reason why you would be undergoing such a procedure and if it is really necessary or if there is another alternative to that procedure. next, you should find out about the surgeon who is going to perform such a procedure. find out what the procedure will be and how they are going to perform it. also find out the recovery time, etc. if you have done your homework, i think that there won't be any need for being scared. it helps to be prepared. good luck on your surgery!

Hmmmmm.. I had a sist on my head which had to be operated and removed!! It came all of a sudden before I could mentally prepare myself even. I really had a very bad pain but then I never showed it out since my parents will feel a lot then,so I controlled all my pain. The doctor even said that I was the most cooperative patient he had seen ever but I just beared the pain for my parents. Don't worry,u r going to be fine. Get rid of the problem that u'd been suffering from. All the best. Ur good health will be part of my prayers. Take care!! Things will fall in place!! Cheers

Don't be scared. I'll pray for you. It'll all work out exactly the way it's supposed to. It's all part of God's plan. I know it's easier said than done, but don't worry. If it were me, I think I'd be excited. I'm just a bit weird like that though.
