What is the best adventure movie, Lord of the Rings triology or Harry Potter?

I am quite confused regarding movie preferences of other people. I must admit that I did not see any of the series of Lord of the Ring and Harry Potter, but I am looking forward to buy a dvd of either of the two movies, but I want to buy only one. Some of my friends voted for LOTR as the best while others picked Harry. Which is which?

I've never seen Lord of the Rings...I saw the previews and it just didn't interest me. However, I have all 5 of the Harry Potter movies and we've watched each one more than a dozen times over the years. I never get tired of seeing them. They have changed though. The first ones were kind of light, airy, fun and carefree. The more recent ones seem more sinister, dark and intense. To be honest, I kind of prefer the earlier ones.

in my opinion lord of the rings is the best adventure movie i have ever seen t however harry potter is based mostly on fantacy so u should go for lotr.

I am a fan of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, but when it comes to which one is the better adventure movie i would have to say the Lord of the Rings movies, the Harry Potter movies are just not as good as the books were.
