music to my ears as long as I don't want to sleep

My husband snores. Apparently I do too, but the difference is that he falls asleep more easily than I do. I end up pinching his nose, poking him in the ribs, yanking his pillow out from under his head, occasionally even getting up and sleeping on the couch. Anybody else here tortured by a snorer? And how do you deal with it?

My aunt once told me a hilarious story.
Apparently her husband used to snore a lot whenever he slept on his back. When he fell asleep he would be on his side, but then he would roll over in the middle of the night. So finally, one evening my aunt grabs one of his dirty socks up out of the hamper and puts it on his face!
That seemed to cure him pretty quickly.

rofl I love how your aunt thinks. I may have to try something like that. If I can keep a straight face while I'm doing it...

I snore but I have severe asthma, but never mind that, my husband always falls asleep before I do. I hate it. The snoring starts really bad with-in a minute. I like you poke him and shake him and hold his nose. It usually works temporarly and then it starts again.
The best thing for it Dawn is to buy some ear plugs for yourself. They really do work. I am sorry you are tortured by a snorer too.

I stopped wearing earplugs after the Northridge earthquake, but maybe I'll try it again. We aren't so prone to quakes where I am now...

First I will say I have been told I snore. My husband does when he is REALLY tired but other then that he doesn't.
Now my dad snors so loud you can hear him across the house!!! I don't know HOW my mom put up with him for as long as she did!! After 12 years she finally talked him into seeing a doctor about it and they found out he had 'sleep apnea'. Now he wears a lovely mask that keeps her awake but at least I don't hear it on the other side of the house LOL!!!
Maybe you should talk your husband into going. My dad said that people that snore like he did normally have it! Its some thing to think about.

My husband snores too, and he also says that I do, which I think I do, because sometimes I'll wake myself up snoring...lol. Sometimes tho, its hard to go to sleep when he's snoring, and he falls asleep before I do, it don't take him long. All I have to do is touch his arm or tell him hey your snoring, and he'll turn over, and stop snoring for awhile. But I also know that, when he's gone on a trip or something I miss his snoring, and I always wished he was here....awwww.

I have been and even ear plugs didn't work. In time I was so sleep deprived I thought I was going crazy. I had to suggest thaat we sleep in different rooms because I needed sleep. I worked at home with my craft business and had my youngest son home and I was home schooling him. It was affecting everything in my life. You have to be able to get a good nights sleep, alot depends on it. There are some things on the market you can try that are supposed to stop snoring. I would also talk to your Doctor about it and see what the suggestion might be. You must get your sleep, it is so imortant.

You might try telling him you can't go without sleep. It's making you feel sick and you can't keep awake during the day. If that doesn't work I would just refuse to do anything one day, stay in bed, call in sick and sleep during the day. Maybe this would convince him to go see the Doctor for some help. If he sees you in that condition he might change his tune!!!

My ex husband used to snore. It was so loud it was like a chain saw. There was no way i could get any sleep in the same room with him so I moved out to the couch. Thats where i slept till we split up . No it wasn't caused by his snoring .lol

Ahhh, I am not alone.
Yes I have this problem too. I used to try to go to sleep before he does, but even by any chance I cannot sleep and his snoring is loud, I end up on the couch too.
But for the last five years I don't have that problem anymore, we sleep in separate rooms because my daughter sleeps with me.
Sound weird to be married but in separate rooms, but it works for me.

I have the same techniques as you do. The only one you didn't mention is the ice cube down his shorts! It wakes him up and he gets mad but after he rants about it for 2 or 3 minutes then he is awake and has a hard time going back to sleep but I then have my chance! LOL He always says he is going to get me back but I think he is afraid!
Oh by the way if you have never tried the snoring strips that go across his nose DON'T they don't work!

rofl again... Love the idea. Unfortunately the refrigerator is downstairs and at 4 AM, by the time I get down there, I will probably have forgotten what I went there for.
I did try the strips and supposedly they did help a bit with my snoring. But it didn't totally get rid of it.

I love my husband dearly but I cant stand his snoring when I am trying to sleep. I used to be able to block it out and fall asleep then my daughter was born and that was the end of blocking anything out. He has tried everything breathe right, medicine, changing eating habits you name it he tried it. Now rather than me being miserable or divorced we sleep in seperate rooms. It dont mean I love him less or that our relationship is in trouble it just means I got smart and now have a quite place to sleep. Wow what a great feeling a good nights sleep.

Don’t remind me….this is the standard routine in my bedroom EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. I have tried all that you mention, including kicking and scratching his right forearm (it has nice designs on it now) and is just short of actually pushing him off the bed. So as you can understand, there’s no way of dealing with this one as they never stop snoring. Funny part is the moment I push him hard enough to turn sides, he stops snoring…he only snores when he’s lying on his back with mouth partially open. And yet, he would not sleep on his sides, he has to sleep on his back
(And yes, I snore too but surprisingly my snoring wakes up nobody)

This is funny!Well,I do snore too and my cousins used to complain in the beginning, now they don;t anymore.I have started yoga session. The breathing technique which was advised to me by one Uncle.Every morning I would sit in a quiet place and do this technique of breathing in and out several times and also repeating before going to bed. This had helped me a lot to solve my snoring problem.I really don't know ho I started snoring so loudly. But,glad I don't snore loud anymore.Good day!
