I'm curious about the Twilight books and want to hear more about them. Anyone care to share their experience with the series? Has anyone seen the movie and is willing to give a review? If I go see it, will it give me chills and goosebumps? Should I read the books instead?

I haven't and I don't recommend solely based on its bad reputation (I don't trust the taste of fangirls). But you might want to hear it from a guy who actually read all 4 books and watched the movie: http://mrmsmultiplywtflol.multiply.com/journal/item/90/An_open_letter_to_Twilight_fans

Bad reputation? What, the book has a bad rep, why? I guess I'll check out your link. So is it your opinion or someone elses that you're sharing? ‹(°¿°)›

I read all four Twilight series (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn). Actually, I was just curious about the hype on the Twilight story and read the first book. I never stopped since then till I finished all four books. No chills from this book though, just giddy, gushing moments. Hey I am female so its okay LOL. Twilight centers on a romance between a human, Bella, and a vampire - Edward. It's not the usual vampire novel though; Twilight vampires have no fangs, no gore and no bloodsucking "mealtimes" There's almost no mealtimes in the series. This particular group of vampires has unusual dietary requirements described as vegetarian lifestyles. They hunt animals, not humans. Oh what's different is the vampires here can go out on daylight and sparkles when exposed to sunlight. The book focuses on the budding relationship between the two main leads, and Edward's efforts to keep Bella safe from a rogue pack of vampires to a few accidents in the first book, and various twists and dangers in the other books. The storyline is quite cheesy and very cliche, but it's really fun and sweet reading. I was in Twilight trance for weeks. Of course, having read the first book twice, I had to watch the movie when it opened in my country yesterday. All theaters where the Twilight movie opened was filled to the rafters from the first screening till last full show. It has been dubbed as the Twilight mania here. The movie did not disappoint me though and did justice to the book somehow. It is really good, from my perspective, having covered the milestone giddy moments of the book. Some of the book's quotes and conversations between the two leads and other characters were retained in the movie and these were giddy scenes. I can still hear the gushing of women inside the theater during these scenes. LOL Oh well, I dont want to spill anything to spoil the fun. I recommend reading at least the first book before watching the movie. Enjoy your Twilight moments.

Hi my myLotian friend. Wow all four books. I think I'll start with just Twilight and hopefully move forward slowly. You know my schedule. The movie may be available for rent or purchase before I get around to seeing it. I like the idea of different twists in this tale. Well there's always a hint of romance in every vampire story but usually fairly distorted. This sounds quite intriguing Bella "wants" to be a vampire in order to be with Edward and he resists that idea. Hmmmmm? Semi-vegetarian vampires. No fangs and hunt animals hmmmmm again. Of course we must have good versus evil for some wonderful drama. They even go out in the daylight cool. I don't care about cheesy or otherwise as long as it's a good story. That's all that matters to me. Because of your glowing review I will be picking up Twilight as the very least. Maybe I'll read it twice as well. Talk with you soon my "dear" friend. ‹(°¿°)›

My pleasure my myLotian friend. Oh yes I can see how our names are similar. I wonder if Jack from LOST jumped off anything. LOL I'm sure I'll find the time to read Twilight. Somewhere, somehow. I'll read it like any book I read. With an open and anxious mind. I'll let you know when I finally sit down and dig in. ‹(°¿°)›

Hey thanks for the best response mark, jumpinJack. Your name reminds me of LOSTie hunk Jack Shepard LOL. I do hope you find the time to read Twilight and would like to know of your unbiased review. Unbiased because you are not a Twilight nor a Stephenie Meyer fan and it is a chick book as you termed it. Let me know when you finally get down to reading it and let's talk about it. weeee

I've always viewed Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series as originally written for Young Adults, despite its current popularity where it transcended age lines. Despite having vampires in the books, it does not belong in the horror genre. It's really more of a romance between a teenage girl and a male vampire. Considering that you are an adult male, and unless, you are fond of cheesy romance plot lines, I probably would not recommend the books to you. I've read the books, enjoyed them, but then I'm a girl and I'm into paranormal romance stuff. As for the movie, it pretty much follow the book. So again, if sweet, cheesy romance stories, are not your thing, you might as well ignore it. Definitely, no chills or goosebumps here...LOL...just teenage girls screaming over a cute young-looking vampire..LOL...

Oh okay that's kind of cool. It transcends the generations of youth and adult. I like the twist with it being more about a romance. If it is "too" cheesy that's what I'm afraid of but it sounds like it's handled really well. It doesn't matter to me if it's chick material as long as the book is written well and the characters have depth. I guess I'll give the book a try and see how it goes. Then consider seeing the movie. ‹(°¿°)›

I hear that the book as well as the movie aren't your typical teenage mush. Sure there's some romance but all vampire books and movies have some of that. I'll give it a chance because I hear it has some new twists to it. ‹(°¿°)›

well, i love vampires, and romance! they mix perfect! who wouldn't want to have a vampire love and protect you, forever! and who wouldnt want to live forever as a teenager and be perfect in every way. the movie was awesome! i loved everything about it, it left me wanting more, and now im going to read the whole series. i think, that the movie could have been deeper with more romance, but it was still good. haters, can go ***** urselves!

Read the books. You'll get more into them than the movie. The movie is okay, but the books are WAY WAY WAY WAY better. I read all 4 books in 5 days. I couldn't stop. They're amazing. Super amazing. One of my favorite series ever.

Wow, four WAYs. I guess I better read the books first. All 4 in 5 days?! Now that's some serious reading. I'll certainly read the books first then by that time I may have to watch the movie online or rent it. I can't focus that deeply into any books at this time of year. Way too many other things going on as well. ‹(°¿°)›
