I think I am very good in Mathematics. I usually get high marks during grade school and high school in that subject even I didn't review that much. I was also chosen to be a contestant in a Math quiz. Well, I used my strength in that subject in choosing my career. I am a Certified Public Accountant but for now, I am not practising my profession since I am a full-time mother and housewife.

[i]Hi Tushavi,
I will not agree with your friend..I have a lot of successful friends who are not good in Math but because of hard work, perseverance, determination and common sense, they were able to find a great job and earn great! DO not listen to your friend but always think positive, try to research what are in demands job and take it! Be optimistic![/i]

You obviously are very young and that is why you get worried when your friends tell you something to shake your already shaken confidence. First of all, be sure that when you are willing to battle against your weakness, and are going to work hard in a particular area you a re definitely going to succeed. You would still pass though you may not emerge in flying colors. This would matter only when the subject is compulsory. If you do not have a natural flair for Maths then do not take it as your primary subject in higher classes [Say College]. There are umpteen avenues open to the young diligent mind and it is motivation and hard work that counts. Whatever God has ordained would happen as long as you are going to do your own duty [work].
Identify your aptitude and choose that subject [it can even be descriptive writing, history, Geography, IT, Pharmacy]--anything-but this has to be based on your inherent taste for the subject and not for anything else. If you feel IT is good then cultivate a taste and work very hard at it. Get to know as much a s possible-knowledge is power.
Commerce is a good field no doubt but you must make up your mind whether you are willing to do the number crunching in accountancy.
From personal experience let me tell you, when your confidence is at low ebb, many friends cause additional damage to this by their own suggestions and comments. .
Interact with a slightly senior person and discuss your area of strength and your potential in a respective field. Good luck!
Lower flair for Maths is not the end of the world and there are many avenues to succeed in life.
You would still be able to keep track of your expenditure and income if only you decide not to borrow [rates of interest may eat up your capital]
Hard work would fetch you results [keep your expectations tuned to reality and do not aspire for something that is beyond your capability].Just work to your best capacity-at the end of the day you have to answer truthfully to your own conscience whether you have worked to your best capacity-then see the results.
Do not worry about what friends say.theya re also as young as you are.

I'm actually good in Mathematics, I believe that my ability was inherited from my mother. I'm not a genius though, don't expect me to do large or complex computations using just my mind. I prefer to have a pen and paper ready, and a calculator will be a great help hehe.

Im pretty good at math and it helps me with more than calulating the tip at a restaurant. Math can be applied to just about any feild and what studying math does for u is helps u develope critical thinking skills from a new angle. For example i have a friend who is really smart but chose to pursue her degree in english rather than following going the science way. When thy to solve problems there is no doubt that we try to solve things in different ways. I would suggest whatever field you go into that you keep studying math.

When I was in grade school I was awful in math and I never understood any of it. But when I was in college, I found it very easy. I began to excel in trigonometry, algebra and a bit in calculus. Yes almost all aspects of life involves math. I think you should not just look at math as numbers or calculations think of it as everyday objects, like the table you are eating on, it has a measurement, or the time it takes you to travel from your house to a store or how many teaspoons of salt you should put.
If you are bad in calculations, you are not alone, not everyone can compute very large quantities. You can probably do some mental calculations, when buying groceries, try to compute the total expense of a few items, round it off, you don't have to be exact. Try making estimates.. Don't be to hard on yourself. No one expects you to become a math genius or the Rainman. That's why we study math and that is why we have calculators.
You won't lose control on your financial situation if you are bad in math. All you need is some logic, understanding, common sense and some gut instincts then you will be fine. I think you will know if you are overspending.

Hi dude, well i'm also weak in mathematics. I failed in that subject. Even i tried hard to achieve a better result in maths, bt in vain. Well its true that if you don't have maths you can't get a better job, so i would suggest you to try a little harder. I've been jobless for two year. Finally i've got a job as Data entry operator. Every interview i went, they looked at my maths result.. Thanks god they don't need maths for data entry operator, hehehe. And also do what you deem right. Don't listen to your friends. They are here to critisize. Today if i am what i am its due to friends. So better talk to your parents and ask them advice.. In commerce there are lots of profits, but you must well maintained what you are doing. And in commerce there are sometimes loss or profit.. So i would suggest you not to start some kind of business. Nowadays there are great demand in networking and IT. So good luck in your life and heed some good advice from your parents.

I was never any good at mathmatics. I hate it at School also. It bored me to tears, probably because I did not understand it very well and had a bad teacher. i like you are either good at mathmatics or you are not.
I would not believe what your friend has told you. I manage my finances well and control my budgets also. As long as you can count I think that is all you need and a smart head of course (common sense). We do not need to have college degrees so please do not listen to your friends. I think they are very wrong.
IT would be the best thing to get into and pharmacy also, but I think pharmacy requires mathmatics and science. It is your choice what you want to do. Please choose your own field of work and do not let others put you off.

i'm very good at math. but only because i found the trick to it. just think of everything as money. that way if you mess up you can see how much it would hurt you realistically. now you may ask how to do this for like algebra, geometry, etc... well everything goes back to the order of operations (PEMDAS). so juss see it as counting your pay for hours or something like that.
