If Obama closes Gitmo and brings the detainees to the US for their "due process", where will the detainees go?
China has already said that they don't want the Chinese nationals being held at Gitmo back, and won't allow them in the country even when they are freed. Other nations have made similar statements.
According to Amnesty International (who can rot anyway because they are very interested in helping the detainees but out and out refused to help American POW/MIAs from the Vietnam war), 60% of the detainees have direct ties to Al Qeada.
If the detainees are brought to the US and given Habeas Corpus rights, will the US be forced to allow them to stay in the US? Obama, Amnasty International and other groups seem extremely interested in protecting the detainees (even the ones with known ties to terrorist groups)... what protections do Obama or anyone else propose for the people of the US if their policies lead to the terrorists being freed?

Since Yemen was happy to take Salim Hamdan, maybe they'll take the rest of the detainees, too.
More than likely, they'll never breath the fresh air of freedom again if no other country wants them...Amnesty International or not.

I think you do more for Obama then most of his supporters do..Obama has a plan for each course of action. No doubt if he is going to Close Guantanimo ( terrible place of disgrace ) he more then likely has a place that the would be sent to...We cannot pretend to know where these people will be sent.. But I do understand many are to be tried by US courts.

I guess we're all just going to have to wait for the subject to be publicly addressed...and then you'll know.

What political position do you or I have ..absolutely none but he vote we cast..
Many voters..many..the hugest landslide in many years voted for our new president elect.
I am sorry your in the minority and want to shout, scream and find fault with Mr. Obama.
IT's your right..but give the guy a chance.
Consider the record of the present Commander and Chief and where our nation sits.. I supported and voted for Mr. Bush..But realize there is need for action ..and need for change.
Guantanimo..is one that has to go because of autrocities that went on there.

The facts everyone seems to miss:
The detainees are prisoners of war. Giving them trials in civilian courts(the due process some seek) is a direct violation of the Geneva convention. It would be like having Hitler put us troops on trial for murder, vandalism, assault, etc when they were captured in WWII.
The POW detained at Gitmo do not meet the requirements of soldiers under the Geneva convention. The fight without uniform, hiding among the civilian populace. They have no national backing. The conventions do not recognize them as soldiers. As such they are "unlawful enemy combatants".
The military arms of European nations have long acknowledged the soldier acts under the color of military authority and is not subject to routine or civilian legal systems. They have also accepted that Soldiers without uniform and hiding among civilians encourages the slaughter of non combatants and so no such fighter is seen as legitimate. They have always been seen as spies, saboteurs, criminals, traitors, terrorists, etc. As such they are still enemy combatants in acts of war who can't be tried in civilian courts but their actions make them subject to trial as subversive agents in a military court which is where they have been taken for almost as long as the US has existed. Regardless of the findings of civilian judges the only persons with authority over these prisoners are the president and the military as this is a strictly military matter.
No civilian court has authority over military action unless that action is against civilians such as in the case of martial law being imposed. The detainees at Gitmo are foreign invaders caught in acts of terrorism or captured on the battlefeild overseas. They are not civilian US citizens and despite the hype the US does not remove citizenship on a whim to put people there. In order to loose you citizenship the rules have remained the same. You must be caught on the battlefeild. You must be fighting on the side of the foreign enemy force. You must be attacking US forces. If you don't meet those tests or give up your citizenship in writing or in public you are an American.
Americans have been serving in foreign armies for a very long time. So long as they aren't attacking Americans there is nothing wrong with it. American fighter pilots served in the French, British and Chinese air forces during WWI and WWII. Americans joined various European armies and Navies to fight when America hadn't entered the war. Americans joined The Army of Texas to fight the Mexicans when Texas was still and independent nation. You get the picture.
Finally, a number of detainees have already gone to trial and been released. Most if not all have then been captured or killed on the battlefield, within a few short months, trying to kill US troops.
The military tribunal system has a conviction rate far lower than that of US civilian courts. Because certain rules are withheld in favor of security and protection of intelligence, these tribunals give the prisoner a lot more leeway and benefit of doubt resulting in the lower conviction rate.
Subversives are not treated to the right of a "speedy trial" because their very nature makes them an intelligence asset while in detention. They are not tried until the military believes they have gathered all the intelligence they can from interrogation.

Obama can not take populis action to raised his poll, shutting down guantanimo bay prison, will make terrorist feel win. USA should keep the prison operated but with more open. If this terroris or the prisonner leave with out heading a court can be bad presedence. I am aggreed with china. USA capture them must be with out irrational reason. It's our job to make sure the prison not harm human right's
