Are His New Books As Poignant As His Early Works?

Have you read some of Stephen King's newer books, such as "Duma Key" and found yourself as satisfied with the new novels as the early works? I find that Stephen King has pulled away from some of the more shocking aspects of his early works, and horror seems to have taken a bit of a backseat. I still think his newer works are phenominal, but I would love to see Stephen King return to a truly "classic" type Stephen King novel...something along the lines of "IT" or "Salems Lot" or even "Christine". How about you?

A fan of Mr Stephen King I also find that the earlier books were amazing and the new ones kinda sorta good. Blaze was the best of the new. Cell was okay but Duma Key, what can I say, I have gotten it twice at the library and still have not gotten past page 90. I just cant get myself into it , really and I dot know why? Usually his books grab you by the set of your pants in a minute and then you cant put them down till the end. I was lucky to have found Desperation the other day which is pretty old and it was nice to have some of the old Stephen to read. It was scary creppy, though a bit long in some parts. But I still love him and he is KING !!!!!

I have read every Stephen King book written. I agree that his earlier works were most definitely his best. I found myself struggling to finish Cell and Duma Key. The only one that I found reminiscent of his earlier works was Blaze. I enjoyed that one. Do you find that his short stories seem so much better?
