Does anyone here partake in Black Friday sales? Is this something you do traditionally every year? What stores do you like to go to, and what items are you specifically looking for? I want to hear all about your plans, your traditions, and what all you will be doing on Black Friday.
Last year was the first year I actually went out shopping on Black Friday, trying to beat the crowds and get some of the best deals of the year. It's not as easy as it sounds, LOL! We were at Circuit City around 7am or so, the parking lot was packed, the store was full, wall to wall people. And of course, the couple things I went there for were nowhere to be found! I was amazed at how many people were out, it was freezing cold, and just to save a couple dollars. I'm not saying they were completely crazy, because of course that would have included myself as well. But there are definitely a lot of people that fight the crowds to make a break for their wallet. I don't think I ended up even buying much last year, but it was quite the experience.
I do plan on going out again this year. My husband and I just got married a month ago, so we have a lot of wedding money and a few things in mind we'd like to buy. So we thought we'd take a shot and try to get a good deal on a few things. We'd like to buy a flat panel TV. If we can find a smaller one for a great price, we want to put that in our bedroom, but if we can find a really awesome deal on a larger one, then we'll get one for the living room. We also need a small side table for our entry way, and maybe a small bench or something cute like that. Just a few things like that to complete our home. I can't wait to look through all the sales ads coming out in Thursday's paper.
So are there any die hard shoppers out there that will be toughing it out Friday morning?? Thanks for the responses and happy shopping!

We're going shopping again. We usually go every year because it's our time to get some things that we want or know we'll use for cheap. Plus it jump starts our Christmas shopping every year. This year we're mainly looking for some electronics and clothes. It's always crowded when we go but it could be a lot worse. Thankfully we go shopping at a small Walmart in a pretty small town in hopes to avoid a lot of the crowd.

I know. They're cheaper however on the things that we are looking for thankfully. They're the cheapest places to buy those things so far.

Once and never again. Like you we didn't find much of the things we wanted and the few items we did get for the price savings we had.. well, I don't think it was worth the time we spent to get them. The line to get in, the line to get to the register, not really worth it IMO.
Here is the black friday info. You don't have to wait until you get Thursday's paper;)

Just wanted to say, I love that site. It's the best site out there for Black Friday information. Seriously. I love their newsletter too. It really helps.

I live in Canada, and I actually never heard of black friday until the other day. I can't believe I didnt know about it!. I would love to parttake in the events. But that would mean that we would have to go through the border and customs, which could be a really long process. And i know the malls are going to be crazy. I would love to go though, my co worker is going and she'll pick up something for me if I need it.

I avoid going anywhere that day. I never have any money to go at that time anyway. It just always seems to work out that way. We went one year but we will never go again. It's a big time waster. After spending 3 hours in a store just to check out is not my idea of fun. Yeah, we have found some good deals on a few things we wanted to buy that time but it wasn't worth it to me. I would rather take my time when I am shopping. I don't like rushing around and at the same time, fighting to look at what I want to buy. Fighting through the waves of people in the store is just not a fun trip for me. I don't even like going through a busy grocery store on a normal day! I choose to avoid it because the wasted time, crowds, and headaches, it's just not worth it to me. Have fun though--I'm sitting this one out! :)

I like Thanksgiving, but normally, I cannot get up so early. What I need is free stuffs: Shampoos and toothpastes from CVS, remote controls from staples. If lucky enough, I can get cheap giftcards from American express. In this way, although I don't save a lot of money, I have a happy feeling.

I have one thing to say about Black Friday shopping..."PLEASE don't make me go out there!"

I don't always go. But last year I went to Kohl's at 4am to get a roll up piano. The place was packed! It was so early too.
This year they don't have anything good and no other stores do the sale that early around here. But at Best Buy people are already camping out in the rain. I'm not that crazy. I'll get to a store a few hours before they open to line up, but not days early.

I have never been shopping on Black Friday before. I have to work in the morning so I won't be shopping this Black Friday either plus I have my kids they are out of school so can't buy things when they are with me. I am going Wednesday and hope to find some great deals.

I been the last few years. I usually go to wal-mart and get most of everyones xmas present. I am also given a list from friends and family members who want things from the sale but are not brave enough to face the crowds. I hate to say it but i don't think i haven't gotten what i set out to get. The trick to getting what you want from wal-mart is to get there really early, they almost always bring there stock out before the sale starts and you are able to get it, just not able to pay for it until the time the sale is supposed to start. I will again be going out this year and already of a growing list of things to get.
