Edible Organic Landscaping

The way food prices are going up these days, it will be a more sensible economic move if house owners with landscaped yards change their landscaping plants from the merely beautiful to the beautiful as well as edible. Beautiful plants are a feast for the eyes and soul, but edible landscaping plants have the additional distinction of being a feast for the body too. Food grown in the front yard eliminates the miles that the food travels, indirectly helping to mitigate global warming. Nothing beats food from the front yard in terms of freshness and taste especially if the methods and inputs used are organic. Edible Organic Landscaping, Anyone?

At first, my wife preferred flowers over vegetables. I argued that we cannot eat the flowers, it is only for the eyes' consumption, nothing else. Then we agreed that we'll divide the front yard, the left portion to be planted with assorted flowers and few vegetables while on the right portion of the yard will be planted purely with vegetables. Now, not only does our eyes are full and contented, but also our stomachs. We don't buy vegetables anymore, except those that are not found in our garden, and our produce are fresh, and free of hazardous chemicals because we advocate organic gardening.
