100 bucks a month?!

When I moved in to my new apartment, I was less than surprised to find that I had full cable and internet already set up, and that I wasn't paying for it. It was the second time I'd moved in to a new place and was being given free access to cable and internet.
Last time, however, it was eventually shut off, and there was a few days where we had to go without until we got it set up again. So this time I called and set up an account after a few weeks of freebie cable.
Apparently they do that on purpose, at least locally. They'll leave it on after one tenant leaves, so when the next one moves in, they'll have some time to get used to it before they decide if they want to keep it. Then they give both cable and internet to you at the price of just one of them for 3 months, so you can really get used to it.
Well, my three months is up, and so is my bill. 100 bucks a month for the 3 channels I watch is outrageous. Why is there no way to order channels individually? I would happily pay 5 dollars a month per channel. I would pay 30 dollars a month for a smaller package. But there isn't one available. I could lower my download speed, but I actually use that to its fullest. The only thing I don't use to the extent they offer it, is the only thing I can't make any cheaper.
