Is this some kind of a glitch?

I was replying to a topic a while ago and I wrote a pretty long response. After reviewing my reply, I hit the "post response" button (I'm pretty sure I hit the correct button) and what do you know, the page reloads back to "respond to this discussion." My post is gone, and since I don't have the cut+paste option yet I lose the whole post. So I'm thinking, maybe this is just a one time thing and I compose a new response. I hit the "post response" button, and it happens again. It's so frustrating to have to retype the same post again and again. Have you experienced this too on mylot?

I have experienced this, about two months ago. And boy was I mad.. I had to type my entire conversation over again.. And so an similar incident happened again. Just this week. So, I copy and pasted the information. I could not start an new discussion for anything. Every time that I typed in my discussion and posted it, it will take me back to a blank page, where I have to post my discussion all over again.. Talk about mad and pissed! So, there has to be an glitch, and I do hope that this gets taken care of very soon. I am sorry that you had to go through this.. I know how you feel to get side tracked..

Hi, I am glad to see you, EAStanley! I am glad that you chose to stick around. I am so glad to see you. I do get annoyed at typing something all over again, having to do it. This does get very annoying.. I don't like to go through this all of the time.

It has only happened a few times to me and that was before i reached 500 as well. I havent had it happen since so it is probably just a glitch.

It happens to me too once in a long while. I have copy and paste access but am not in the habit of cutting copying mycomments before submitting them. And yes, it is VERY frustrating especially if they are long and the comments took some real thought.
I hope this comment goes through....lol

Yeah, I can't wait to be able to paste, it would be a huge improvement for me. Actually for a moment there, I did get to do it and I thought, "wait a minute, I can copy and paste now?" and so I try it again, and it fails hahah.

I have actually experienced it lots of times already. Sometimes when i make long responses and when i hit the post button my browser says "Cannot find Server" and after hitting the back button everything i have written is already gone and i checked the discussion to know that my response was not posted. After making such long discussion i didnt make another reply again to the discussion. I guess i just felt frustrated about it because it really took me lots of effort to make that long response and to know that all those effort was for nothing would really made me feel bad about mylot. I really dont know who to blame when such thing happens. I dont even know if it is my fault or mylots fault. Well i just move on to the next discussion and didnt mind retyping all those that i have lost.
I really hope that mylot could find a solution for this problem because it really happens a lot to me.

Interesting suggestion! I will try this when I encounter some trouble posting. Thanks for the tip!

Hi jewilim. This happens to me frequently, especially since I'm using wifi. I would be terribly frustrated but because it has happened so often I have found some ways around it.
I have tried to get in the habit of looking at my connection indicator before I hit the post button to make sure I'm still online after I have finished typing. If I do hit the button and it tells me that I'm not connected I wait for it to reconnect then hit the try again button.
If I have hit the back button on my browser I will hit the forward button. Even though my comment does not show on the screen at that time I will still hit the post button. So far it has posted intact every time.
Hope this helps.

I had the same thing yesterday, and I was cursing MyLot, when I realized it was my Internet connection that got lost. I was too lazy and mad to type my post again, so another usefull comment missed on Mylot, and I missed another 2 cents or something lol :-) On the whole, I didn't experience a lot of trouble/downtime/bugs with Mylot, fingers crossed it stays like that!

I had that suspicion too that it was my internet connection. The funny thing was, my connection was working fine and I was able to effortlessly respond to a different discussion. It was just that single discussion. I tried again and was successful, and I hope it doesn't happen again.

No, with me it really was my connection, other sites or other discussions on Mylot weren't working either. Well, I'm on college Internet, and if a lot of people access it at the same time, it just crashes or something, disconnecting random people or whole dormitories. Not fun, but as we pay not much, I don't think I'm allowed to complain lol :-)

Yeah I have had this happen to me a couple of times in the past and it is infuriating. It normally happens when I have done a really long reply to a discussion so I end up wasting time and effort redoing it.

Heheh hmmm although I'm sure my problem isn't due to my connection, I would think you haven't encountered this problem because you have 1000+ posts and your internet connection is awesome LOL!

Yes it has happened to me before, I think that it is just a glitch to be honest with you. I did get into the habit of copying my discussions at one time because it happened so much but I have stopped again now!

That has happened to me too it is very frustrating. Possibly the system logged you out as you were writing your response. It is a very frustrating thing to happen especially when you have really put your heart in to your answer, and forming your words just right and then it is just gone. I know how you feel, it is majorly frustrating.

This has happened to me when I tried to post HTML tags as a demonstration in the post. My guess is that it's part of mylots system to keep certain things out of posts, although I don't really know how it works. I hit the back button, and it was still there, so I edited the post to something mylot would accept and resubmitted it. I wish there were a better system than this, though.

There are few times that this happened to me and this are just a connection problem and sometimes over use of the site. There are times that when there are too many members using the site, this problem could occur. So what I usually do if it's a long response already, I usually copy it just in case this thing would happen then paste it at MS word or notepad, and I'll just have to painstakingly rewrite it. The good thing is, I will not think about what I have just written anymore and just go straight write it.

Nope, it was definitely not the browser. It was actually just that single topic I was trying to reply to. I had another tab open with another topic I was replying to and I was able to do so without any hitches.

That happens to me all the time. I just thought it was me and my internet connection. I have to believe its a glitch or at least hope its a glitch. I was very upset having to retype my post over and over again.

I've had that happen a few times (more often when i was before my 500 posts) and i found it immensely frustrating. I noticed it tends to happen when mylot is dragging to load so its like my post gets lost. Theres times I've given up and not bothered posting the responses that disappear. Other times I got smart and took a screen shot of what i typed so i didn't have to try to remember.
