American Muslim groups responded with uncustomary silence to the news that leaders of a Muslim charity shut down by the federal government had been convicted in a retrial of money laundering, tax fraud and supporting terrorism.

I do really think its time the Muslim community started waking up to the fact that in human society everything cannot be pristine pure forever. Their obsession with the purity and sanctity of their religion makes them blind to the way its being misused and misinterpreted worldwide and their reluctance to clean up their own homes, is causing everybody dear. If however, they are starting to accept that human greed and vice does, in many cases, rule above the purity of religion, it’s a step in the right direction.

I'm sorry but what does this have to do with the Muslim charity court case? You're saying that that is why the community is being silent? First of all, I don't think that the community is being silent, but even if they were, I REALLY don't know how you would come to THAT interpretation. Not saying that I disagree with you, well, I do disagree that purity and sanctity could make anyone blind, but I do agree that everyone needs to realize how religion can be misused and misinterpreted. But that has nothing to do with this court case. The muslim community isn't saying that the Holy Land foundation gave money to Hamas. They are saying the same thing the Holy Land foundation is saying, that the only way for them to give the relief and aid that the people of Palestine needed was to go through organizations with ties to Hamas because EVERYTHING in Gaza is controlled by or tied to Hamas. I would like to know exactly where their money was going to before I see them in jail. Because as far as they knew it was going toward relief efforts and aid.

From what I have researched about the case, the charity was not giving money directly to Hamas, but the charities they were giving to had ties to Hamas. Unfortunately I think this is yet another example of how hard it is become to give relief and aid to the people of Palestine... and now people are going to go to jail to try to help people...
