Do you eat early or late on Thanksgiving?

I don't like to eat early so we always have our Thanksgiving meal around 5:30 or so but my youngest daughter ate with her boyfriend's family at around 2:00. This has worked out pretty well for us since they'll be able to come here and eat with us in a little bit. My ex's mother used to get up at 5:00AM in order to have the turkey cooked and everything ready by noon. I never understood the reasoning for that. So, what about you...do you normally eat early or late?

We cook the night before Thanksgiving. We eat our dinner around 1:00pm and then after that we eat as many more times as we want to. I guess you can say that we eat early and continue to eat until we are stuffed.

This is about what we do. Have the food ready between 1 and 2, then eat until bedtime...lol. It's not good for any of us.

That's how we spend the rest of the evening...picking here, getting some more of this or that, but I don't think my stomach could take too much eating. Besides, I had to leave room for a cocktail or two.

It really depends on where we eat. At home I like to eat Thanksgiving dinner around 3 or 4. We ate at his sisters this year and ate around 2. My sister usually likes to eat around 12 or 1.

I could do 3 or 4 if I had to but, if someone wants to eat at noon, it's going to be a very small turkey cause I aint getting up at half past sunrise on a day off in order to get it in the oven in time.

Well, I had to work on Thankgiving as I work for a Taxi Company answering phones and inputting the information for people who are looking for a Cab, as I will be working Christmas day and New Years as well. So my husband had to do all of the cooking this yr. but about an hr. from the time I got home on Thanksgiving we had a nice Turkey dinner with Stuffing and all of the fixings on it as well. It was a really nice dinner, and worth waiting for. Back when I first got married and never worked Thanksgivings I usually had about 2 Thanksgivings to go too, and never seemed to be able to enjoy myself as I usually overate, so I now enjoy the later Thanksgiving meal myself more as well.

Well when I am in charge of the Thanksgiving meal it's about 12-1 pm but my mother is in charge we eat at 3 sometimes 4 whenever. I'm very organized and she is not. I also cook the same size turkey every year and have everything down pat, she raises her own turkey and they don't turn out the same size every year

We usually have the same size bird every year, too. No point in having too many leftovers and, as it is, we've had turkey three nights in a row now and I'm giving the rest to my older daughter today. We still have some pie but not much of that either. I've got my Thanksgiving routine down pretty well too. In fact, some would say (namely me) that that's the only dinner I do well since cooking is not one of my best skills.

I know what you mean. I went from cooking for kids that will eat anything to cooking for a husband that will not eat anything.

Hey spalladino! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had dinner at 8:30pm! It was alot later than I had planned because I didn't put the turkey in the oven until 2:00pm. I was up until 6:00am mylotting! I have insomnia and couldn't sleep so I didn't get up until 1:00pm! But it turned out to be a really nice dinner anyway! It was just me, my boyfriend and my girlfriend from across the street. We had so much food that we are going to have a Thanksgiving Dinner Part 2 this weekend! She made food and I had a turkey with all the trimmings so we just have so much left over! I never was one for eating dinner early. I normally eat dinner late because when I was younger our family used to eat dinner around 7:00 or later. When I was working I didn't eat dinner until around 9:00 and I still eat around that time out of habit.

We don't normally eat until after 6:30 on a regular day. My mother worked full time so I guess I got used to it because I've always kept to that schedule, even during the times when I wasn't working. Since it's usually just my husband and me, we sometimes don't eat until 8:00 or so if we're out on the deck or taking one of the bikes for a ride.

I can always stay up until midnight, but it is too hard for me to get up early. I always skip breakfast in the morning. On Thanksgiving, the same. So I missed the Black Friday shopping also.
