I saw this discussion and wondered whether you ended up getting a cat and if yes, if all of them (dogs and cat) are getting along. I don't see why they shouldn't. But like with human beings, a lot of that depends on character;)

We have three dogs and did have a cat up until last year before someone posioned him. Our cat and our dogs got along great. They would even play together. What you need to do is get a kitten so it can grow up around the dogs. It will take a few days for them to get use to each other but it should be fine.

When I was growing up we always had both dogs and cats at the same time and there were never any serious problems. Since then there have been times when I had just dogs, just cats, and both at the same time.
If your dogs have been raised without cats in the household, you will need to introduce them gradually and keep an eye on both to make sure there are no problems. Be sure to give your dogs plenty of affection so they will not get jealous of the new pet.

I am not sure if they can be friends, my dog has never played with any cats before. But whenever she sees a cat, she will try to approach the cat, but the cat always runs away from her. If you really want to take a cat, then perhaps you need to always watch out them at the beginning, see if they can befriend each other, then you can leave them alone. Otherwise, I guess you need to separate them.

I have had my dog for 10 years and recently we adopted a cat that had been abandoned. The other day we noticed the dog walking out of her kennel and a couple of minutes later out comes the cat! It turns out they have beeen sleeping together ever since the cat arrived. They are best of friends!

I've seen rare moments where dogs and cats got along but that's really rare. Of course, we all know these two are enemies and they really don't like each other. I don't understand why but that's just the way it is. LOL!
If you decide to get one, you have to make sure they wont be near each other. Avoid all roads for them to cross paths. LOL! And watch your furnitures, most probably, you'd see them all in a disastrous state.

They can be friends but don't leave them alone unsupervised until you are sure there aren't going to be any problems. there are sites on the inernet that tell you the best way to introduce dogs and cats to each other.

It really depends on the animals themselves. We have had a cat for a few years now and we just got a puppy. However they are not getting along with eachother too well. They have been warming up to eachother and how we think thinks will is that they will warm up more to eachother and actually become friends. But that is just an assumption but we could be wrong. If we are wrong I guess we will have to continue to go how we have been going and seperating them.
