People Who Do Not Like The Twilight Books

I must say that I cannot fathom the popularity of the Twilight Series. I've read all the books in the series and I really think that Stephanie Meyer should have stopped at the first one; they just get worse as the series continues. Bella is whiny and annoying and a horrible depiction of a young woman; falling to pieces and basically turning into a zombie when Edward leaves her. I also don't like all the description in the book in regards to Edward; all this talk about his golden eyes. I really think the series could have been much better, its like her editor just didn't want to do any work. Oh and not to mention those other characters in the book; the people in Forks, they were basically fillers in the story, their characters could have been put to much better use. Oh so what do you guys think..am I too harsh on Stephanie Meyer or do you agree?

Ouch. That hit a spot... I really loved the book series. You were a tad harsh on Stephenie. The series was a big hit! Many people loved it. But I think, some people cannot really appreciate the beauty of the saga. I think they prefer other genres, other than the genres of the said book. Maybe they didn't like the ending, 'cause they haven't anticipated what happened, but still... for me, The Twilight Saga is amazing.

I could see that very well. But it's all in our own preferences, isn't it? Some people may like the book series, and some do not. It all depends on us.

Thats right everyone's tastes differ. Thank you for commenting though even if you differ with my opinion. I must say that I notice that fans of the series always defend it and thats a good thing. If you like something stand up for it. Have a good night

Well I'm a literature major so I'm used to critiquing books and I read the series because I heard all the hype about it. My not liking the series has nothing to do with me not anticipating the ending, i knew what would happen from the first book. I just think that it could have been better, a lot more work could have been done as well as the development of the characters; major and minor. Being a big hit though does not necessarily mean that its really well written though and thats my major complaint about it.

I guess it all depends on what you like. I'm addicted to paranormal romance novels, so in the end I have to check out Twilight. I read all four books in the Twilight series, and I enjoyed it enough to finish reading all of them, (although I did struggle with the later books), but not enough to make me want to buy the books or do a reread. I do agree with you, that the books could have been edited better...sometimes I feel like screaming..and say..just get to the point..LOL..okay I got it..she is upset ..etc..LOL.. Furthermore, it's a little tame for my taste..LOL..I prefer my vampire hot and sexy...not too nice and sweet..*wink..wink* I do see the attraction why teenagers are so into the books. I mean, a cute vampire will do it for most of them..LOL...the angst of a forbidden relationship, etc...are also factors... I don't think you are harsh with your opinion..I think it is your opinion, and you are entitled to it.

Thank you so much for your comments. When I've spoken about Twilight before fans got extremely defensive about these books so its nice when someone just says your entitled to your opinion:)

Well, I respect your opinion because you took the time to read it first before saying anything. Opinions that are based on secondhand reviews or what other people say, those I cannot respect. I mean, if you are going to bash something, make sure you know what you are talking about, right?..LOL

Her book(s) were found of interest to someone. And enough interest to push for a movie to be produced because of her lack luster books. It is the American way. Thank God! We all get our opinions.

And I am just remarking that someone must have thought they had merit to make a movie out of them! Weak writing? Hmm. I will have to read them at some point. I just think that a book has to have some merit to get made into a movie!

A book has to have popularity to be made into a movie, thats all it really needs. With the industry hoping to make money it would just make sense to cash in on a product that already has a pretty decent fan base.

I see your a fan. I like how you said that we all get our opinions now because I'm just voicing mine thats all. I'm not a fan and thats just it. Thanks for commenting however its appreciated. I just think that her books could have been much better though thats the case, the whole premise isn't totally bad or anything I just think they could be better than they are right now and I don't understand the obsession with something that in my opinion 'weak writing'

I think this guy shares your sentiments: http://mrmsmultiplywtflol.multiply.com/journal/item/90/An_open_letter_to_Twilight_fans He read all the books and watched the movie :) I still don't have the courage to read them or to watch the movie. I'll find the right time. And I wouldn't torture my boyfriend by having to drag him into something so awful. Based solely on the novels' reputation. it sounds like crap. But I better read it first before I argue :P

lol. well i'm a girl and i would not want them as gifts; i'd be so upset if i got one, especially since my birthday is tomorrow. all those girls liking the books though makes me wonder what they think real relationships are; if some mystery guy is going to find them and sweep them off their feet and he's going to be perfect and rich. so silly. thanks for your comments:)
