Generally that's considered right. I think it's applicable all the time but there are people out there who would argue that some situations don't call for opinions... religion comes to mind as well as extremist ideologies.

I believe that I cannot be a good talker till I am a good listener. I believe that I am a good listener and I do listen to others properly and attentively, else I won't be able to solve their problem or some suggestions, if required. I am patient and careful in listening to others and I give othes ample opportunity to pour out their feeling. I first try to listen to them very very patiently and after listening and understanding what others want to convey, I start the talking. I am more of a listener and love to listen to others, I know now a days everyone wants to talk, however, no one has the time to listen to others. Therefore, giving a patient hearing to someone dear to you, definitely cheers him up and give him a kind of satisfaction that somebody has listened to him.

being a good listener doesn't end up on listening but instead fucos on the how you can make a better solution. giving the speaker (friend) a good comport letting him/her know that you will always be there for her/him. after all your not just listening but you gain knowledge how to deal those event if it happens in the future. i like listening other. gather info and giving the best way i can offer.
