I just joined Triond and was thinking of joining Helium too.. however, as I have seen the articles of other writers I felt a little awkward about my own writing as they all seemed to be professional and I thought being a neophyte in this kind of endeavor which is to create and publish your own writing online so a lot of people could read and comment on it, it makes me really tensional. I love writing short stories, poems and news articles but that was in high school and college days only..
Apart from being an Asian, I thought it would be somewhat difficult to level my self with other Caucasians in terms of their Language..
I know that writing is merely to express yourself so you don't have to be ashamed about it, as long as you can convey your thought and ideas to the readers it's okey...
but I'm not a mediocre type of person..I want everything I do to be at its best so positive results can be achieved.. That is why I'm still being hesitant of posting my articles and taking a lot of time to search for better ideas or information that would create good stories for people to read and comment on. "Just need help to uplift my spirit in writing for these sites.."

I have been writing on Helium for a couple of years and at present I make about $25 a month, not alot, but still very welcome. Helium does encourage all its writers to keep improving their articles if they aren't doing very well, so if an article is flagging a bit you have a chance every week to rewrite parts of it or the whole thing if you like in the hope that it will get better ratings. I go on Helium every day to rate other people's articles and add my own as often as I can. A new rule of Helium is that you must have one rating star in order to earn any money which means you must rate a few articles every day or so to keep that star.
I do think you should give it a go, don't hold yourself back, if you don't try you'll never know how well you can do. Don't be afraid that your work won't be good enough. You have a desire to write so go ahead. Most people on these sites are friendly and helpful. I wish you all the best.

wow!
$25 is good money no matter how you look at it. appreciate it if you can share some tips here like what usual topics do you write about and how much time do you spend writing each article.
i'm very interested to start out but i think i need some direction to get a go at it.
appreciate the help.
thanks!

Some people who spend alot of time on Helium earn alot more than me each month. I have over 100 articles on there at present which I have written over two years. I don't add articles very often now as I don't have time but the ones I have on there keep earning. It is necessary to keep revising the articles if they drop down in ratings but I think it is a good site. If you would like to know any more then you are welcome to message me.

I write for Triond regularly. I started at the beginning of the year. It just started out to find out if I could really make money from my writing. I wrote articles and submitted to them, some were rejected while others were accepted. Soon I found that people were reading them and giving their comments. At the same time, my earnings increased. I was hooked. I kept on writing since then for AC and Helium, but I still write for Triond the most. I'm also an Asian. If we practice writing a lot, we will improve. Don't be afraid to try. I will read your articles if you want. You can check me out at Triond. My user name is Sydney Hazelton. Add me as a friend and tell me you are from mylot. Will read and comment on them. All the best and keep on writing.

I write for Helium and Associated Content. I guess I will have to try Triond. I hadn't heard of it before now. I will check it out. But anyway, feel free to express yoursefl through your writing and know that with each submission your work will improve Take lessons from others. Use ideas from them but don't plagiarize, just get ideas from their writing.

I write for Helium and AC. Haven't tried Triond yet, since they're exclusive (I like to be able to post stuff on several sites if I want to). I'm finding it very difficult to get anywhere on Helium, since rating/writing stars are so hard to get, and AC *still* has all my articles as 'submitted' after anything up to a week. Ho hum. Maybe next year I'll have something published...!
As for the quality of writing, I was on AC just browsing around this morning and was horrified by some of the articles. They were really short, didn't cover much at all and were badly written. Your English is eeeaaaasily better!

I wouldn't worry about the race of the people that would be viewing your articles. In fact, as long as they are open-minded, and you convey the information in a comprehensive manner, it won't matter. Anyone that would think otherwise are people that you wouldn't want reading your articles anyway.
Right now, I am learning about article writing and marketing, and a forum that has helped me a lot is the WAHM Article forum. This forum has people from all walks of life that write in one aspect or another on the internet; you would be able to get great tips from them.
Here is the link:

If you are going to join, I suggest that you do it soon. There is talk that this will be a paid forum by the beginning of the year.

If you do decide to join Helium you should introduce yourself to the community in the forum. You will find many friendly members and stewards willing to offer help and encouragement with your writing, if you want it. You will meet many creative writers there, from all over the world.
I am not a creative writer but I have learned how to write informational articles for the internet, and I sell articles to publishers in the Marketplace at Helium, as well as earning revenue share from my stock of articles there. Helium has helped me to improve my writing skills and to learn new ones. I have earned around $400 there since July.

I have been a member of Helium since March 2008! I have yet to reach the payout amount but they are making it easier to earn money with them by giving you up front payments once you get stars from writing (you can make up to $2.50 per article if you have 5 writing stars) and if you write 10 articles a day for 30 days you can make about $750 not including each view of your articles (which is only a penny but with this economy the way it is, it does add up). Right now I'm at $7.03 of the $25.00 payout but I hope to be up to 5 writing stars before the end of this month so I can at least make $300 from Helium.
As far as the writing goes you don't have to be a professional, you just have to get your readers attention with your article!
Good Luck and I hope you start working on helium to make some extra money!

Hi Stevesgrl,
I think it is easier to earn in Triond than Helium. I earn $6.5-$7 every month from my 20 articles. It becomes higher when I also market them. To earn $7.03 only in 9 months (March-December 2008) is really slow. I've read also that before you could have 5 stars, you need to write more than a thousand articles. Is this true? Thanks. :-)

i signed up for both sites but never really got around submitting any articles to them. been real busy and i haven't written anything new and i don't want to submit my old articles. sort of a writer's creed of not using the same article twice. i dunno if it's just me or others practice it aw well. lol!
anyway, just submit your articles and hope for the best. you'll come out a better person and writer after the experience. even if you didn't get paid, at least you were able to polish your writing skills. plus, there is no better way at improving your writing skills than by practicing, practicing, and by practicing some more. your efforts in mylto also help you improve as well so keep posting here also.
hope this helps. happy mylotting.
cheers!

Relax. There is no greater form of release then self-expression. If you feel that writing helps you in any way do it. You shouldn't be so judgmental on yourself. Do what you like because you like it, not because some person half way around the world may not!
