I have seasoned flour that I use to fry fish in. It had already came pre seasoned. The fish comes out pretty well. When we were young, I have seen my family members fry fish in regular flour. And it still comes out just as good. I have always thought that the pre season flour, was mainly used for chefs that had experienced in frying fish. Now, I see that I can buy seasoned flour out of the grocery store. Have you tried frying your fish in regular flour or seasoned flour?

Both, its really a taste preferance if you ask me. You can make your own rub for some fish, there are plenty of recipies at the market for it. Some might seem a little weird but they make the fish taste less like fish and more like a meal. My kids even ate it when we tried it.

I sometimes make a fish dish using batter made out of seasoned flour, but I will always prepare my own seasoned flour. I find those premade flour far too salty for my liking. This kills the natural sweetness of the fish and I suspect the high sodium content cannot be very good for your health either. But I try not to coat my fish in batter too often, I usually try to just grill or poach or bake my fish. Coating fish with batter then frying it can be unhealthy as the batter or the flour tends to soak up the oil that the fish is cooked in. This could turn a healthy fish dish into something rther high in fat content.

Oh? I just use ordinary flour when I fry fish. But that discovery that you have now is really good. I want to try that. I have seen that in the supermarket but never have thought of trying it. It is good that you shared this idea.

I haven't tried cooking fish in seasoned or unseasoned flour, we've always fried fish in cornmeal, I guess it has a little flour in it to help it stick. We use a seasoned fishfry cornmeal, you can get it at the store, and its already seasoned for you, you just dredge your fish in it and fry it.

I have done this and it is very nice and makes a nice coating so you don't over fry the fish.cod or plaice is lovely done this way and rings the changes, because I don't know about you but sometimes cooking food can get boring and it is so nice to have a new flavour.I did not realise you could get pre seasoned flour I normally use salt.pepper and mixed herbs but not to many or it will drown the flavour of the fish.Homemade bread crumbs are nice ,bake the bread in oven till dry then put them in the whizzer and add some seasoning as well, use beaten egg and dip the fish in coat the fish in bread crumbs yummy.

I have never tried frying fish in regular flour or seasoned flour. But my mom makes this sometimes. We also fry the fish without flour. I use the sesame oil to stir fry the ginger for a while first and then just put the fish and fry. It taste good for me too.
