This week, I got the x-ray on my ankle and found out that it was NOT broken! I was so thrilled. The doctor said it was a "really bad sprain" and that I had to wear my boot cast (left over from prior broken ankles) for 3 weeks. The cast is hot and really slows me down. I've been trying to stay off my feet when I'm not working.
The injury happened a week ago today and already, I'm about half-nuts from sitting around. I'm reading, knitting, net-surfing, watching TV, etc. It just cannot be good for a person's heart to sit around like this. I've been walking (i.e. limping) around the house just to move around a little bit.
We'll be travelling the third week that I'll have the cast on so I'll be dragging it through the airports. Does that sound like fun or what? LOL. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy it's not broken.

Hello palonghorn.
Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear about your injured left wrist from clear back in April! That sucks. And it looks like you have one of those "hard" old-fashioned casts that you can't remove. Hope you hang in there til January and try to enjoy your roadtrip to VA to see your daughters and the trip to TX. I wish you a very speedy recovery.
Thanks for your supportive words. Take care.

I totally understand what you were saying! I pulled my wisdom tooth out before and I was in some much pain that I couldn't talk and I had to stay home for a week, I got so bored on the 3rd day already. *laughs* Lucky that we all have mylot and therefore there is still something to do when we stay home. Hope you get recovered really soon!

Hello wondericequeen.
Your wisdom tooth "incident" sounds pretty painful. Ouch! I have been getting out and about more and I worked today, so I'm not so bored. We are leaving in 4 days on a trip, flying up north to visit family, so I'm going to be busy tomorrow doing laundry, ironing, packing and getting ready for the trip. Thanks for your kind wishes.

I suggest you keep yourself busy, so you wouldn't feel bored, PearlGrace. I know you have myLot to keep yourself busy and have your time well spent while healing yourself. That's how I spend my time worth spending lately. Whenever I am alone at home, I do myLot to keep my time worth while. MyLot has saved my from extreme boredom at home. It keeps my mind working most of the times by responding to various discussions. Thanks to myLot.

Hello fedge098. Yes, I've been staying pretty busy. We went out and about today and I got tired out so now I'm ready to sit for several hours. Yes, myLot does keep one's mind busy, doesn't it? Thank you for your encouraging words. Take care.

Congrats on being #1 of 29,238 people in the Life category on myLot! That's impressive! Wow! Anyhoo, today we got out and about and I felt like I was getting out of jail. We went to Home Depot and the grocery store, whooppee.
Yesterday evening, we went out to dinner with one of my sisters and her husband, so that was fun.
Thanks for the positive support. Yes, I've already got one week behind me. The end of the second week, we'll be taking our trip. So the third week will fly by, that's for sure. Take care.

Hello. Yes, I was quite relieved the ankle was not broken. But I have gotten a little bored. I did go out of the house today, so that was good. I've only got 2 more weeks to wear the air cast, so I think I will make it through. Thanks for your support.

Hello riyasam. Sorry you also sprained your ankle. But that's great that you are over it now. Yes, it can drive a person crazy just laying around all the time. We went to Home Depot today and walked around, so that tired me out and made me want to come back home and sit down. Thanks and take care.

That is really good news and I hope that you lose your cast soon and become ambulatory without the baggage on your foot. Cheers!!

Hi underdogtoo. Yes, I was thrilled that I didn't break the ankle this time. Yes, I've been going without the air cast when I'm just sitting in the chair with my ankle propped at home. But when I go out and about or am on my feet at home (cleaning, cooking, etc.), then I place the air cast on my ankle to protect it and give it support.
Thanks for your kind and supportive words. Take care.

Hi PearlGrace, Oh that is fantastic news that it is not actually broken for a fourth time but still frustrating for you to have to wear the boot for another three weeks which will cover for when you are away. It will be well and truly mended for the UK though eh! I am usually a fairly active person myself and have been bed or sofa placed for the last week as very weak from mysterious virus plus other stuff and I can see everything I need to do but cannot physically do right now so the truthful answer to 'does it sound like fun or what? NO DEFINITELY NOT FUN' LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

Yes, I'm lucky the ankle is not broken. Well, I've got one week of the boot cast behind me, only 2 more to go. Can't wait to get to the UK. I have to get my health in order before then so I will have plenty of energy.
Sorry you've been down with a virus. That's not fun either. Thank you for your wonderful and kind support, ellie333. Huggles to you.

Oh yes, that sounds like fun...dragging your boot around the airport...lol. I know I wouldn't want to do it, and I feel for you, I'm sorry you will have to. My sister broke her foot one time, and she had to wear a boot for about 4mos. they put her on light duty at work, but she said she was so bored because she couldn't do anything, and at home, she was supposed to be still and keep her foot up, she said that boot cast just got in the way mostly..lol. I wish you luck on your healing and your trip, yes, we're glad it wasn't broken....take care

Hello. Thanks for your kind words. We did go see a movie on Thanksgiving and that was fun. We have a netflix right now to watch when we want. I was glad that we went to the Home Depot and the grocery store today. That tired me out pretty good, dragging that cast around all that time. Then when we got home, I cooked a quick dinner.
Now, I'm ready to stay in the chair for the rest of the evening! Take care.

hey,
the same thing happened to me, but my ankle is nearly broken and i have had to wear the removable gypsum since august till now! at the beginning, it was awfully difficult to connect myself with the situation.. i was sitting either on bed or on the sofa, and i was period during that time.. i felt soooo down, and i was half away to be crazy.. i even cried when my family help me to go to the washroom.. i felt helpless, and i got out of the job, and my world was so dark..
but, luckily i managed to pass through the situation.. although i still have to wear the gypsum if i'm going for a long distance :(
anyhow, wish you a speedy recovery...
smiley,

Hello smiley83. Sorry to hear that you have an ankle injury. And that's too bad you have had to wear the gypsum since August. It sounds like you got pretty bummed out and depressed about it. I'm glad that you are now feeling better and that you don't have to wear the gypsum as much. Thanks for your kind words. Take care.

Well, isn't that just the sweetest baby picture ever? I'm talking about your myLot avatar. Very cute.
Thanks for your encouraging thoughts. There are many worse things than being idle, I guess I just felt a need to complain at the time I started this discussion. Yes, I will be fine in a few short weeks. Take care.

I think the majority of us have had gotten hurt and had to take a little bit of a break. Just give it some time and remember you cant take back whatever happened so just the best of it as you can

Oh, glad it's not broken! Broken ankles are awful.
For things to do... have you tried writing? Fiction or a research project. Though I have to admit, when I broke my toe in May I spent the vast majority of my time on MyLot... sort of MyLotted myself out and have been away for a few months.
As for exercise without moving that injured foot too much; do you have a Wii about the house? Or something like Guitar Heroes? Those things are not for the unfit... seriously. If not, just try some basic upper body exercises... star jumps without the jumps, that sort of thing.
Travelling? Holiday? Hope the foot doesn't get in the way of your fun!

Hello. I was so relieved to learn it was not broken. Yes, I do write articles for the internet so I've been doing some of that. I do not have a Wii or Guitar Heroies, but that sounds like fun. I've been trying to move my arms and bend over at the waist quite a bit to get a little exercise.
I am hoping my air cast won't feel too heavy on the trip. The flight tickets are paid for so we have to take the trip or else lose the money. Thanks for your ideas and kind words.
