How could he be so cruel?

As some of you know my cat went missing about a month or so ago the night before we moved into our new house. We searched high and low and even went back to try find him at the old house and still nothing.... Right now I"m feeling very sad about my cat gone and I really really want him back. I did as much as I could on my own to try and find him but got nowhere so I asked the public for help to find him by placing an ad online and attached a photo of my cat to let others know what my cat looks like. Two days ago I received an email from someone on that classified website saying " I have what you're looking for please email me back for more information" I did email them back and then waited for a day or so and heard nothing. Finally I decided to try again to that same email telling this person that I want my cat back and to please return another email with more information. The next morning which was today, they responded saying "i am having the cat in cameroom were i am prsently relocated. i saw the cat in the plane when i was coming back from canada som couple of weeks ago. At this point I wanted to believe it but didn't and being place in the position of vulnerable sure didn't help. I wrote back asking where Cameroom was and even did a google search on the maps tab and found it somewhere in British Columbia which about 3000 miles away from me. So once again I found myself waiting for another reply from this mysterious replier to my ad until I finally found out where Cameroom is... This is another email from that person.. Cameroon is in Africa were i am presently located with your cat. you see you will have to pay me for all what i have spend on your pet ok.i really love that you get you cat back because it is really a bordern to my live,and i know you really love this cat and will do every think to have it back. AS IF MY CAT IS IN AFRICA! How can this person be so cruel? I immediately stopped trying to contact this person for answers and reported them for spamming me. I hope they get what they deserve which is to be banned from that classified ads online! What are your views on this?
