question about my laptop

my laptop is a little over a year old i was on it one night and heard this horrible beeping noise coming from the laptop what could that be anyone have an idea
please let me know i have a toshiba satalite series

The beeping is to alert you to a problem. Without seeing your computer we can't possibly know what the problem is. Needles to say, lap tops are not meant for power users. They shouldn't be left on for many hours as they have a tendency to over heat.

When you say beeping noise did it sound like a siren? If so there could be something wrong internally with your computer. It's hard to judge what is wrong by you just saying beeping sound. What kind of beeping sound are you referring too as well as was your computer running at the time? If it was did anything happen to the screen or any applications?
