I thought that it would be better to do this discussion on the day after Thanksgiving because then it would not be among the dozens of other holiday-related discussions, and I also thought it would refresh your memory of the taste of turkey in case you have forgotten it.
I only had a little bit of turkey, but it was not as dry as usual. I think turkey is always kind of dry though, for some reason. I don't know a lot of people who actually like turkey.

I hate turkey! I think the last time I ate turkey at christmas was when I lived at home and that is around eighteen years ago. It is a very dry meat, but saying that there are lots of sauces and things now that can be made so I expect that if they were used then the turkey would be OK. I actually prefer chicken.

It's funny you should say that, because I don't know many people who like turkey, either. I think maybe we are trained to like the IDEA of turkey - because it's a celebration food and we don't usually have it during the rest of the year. I actually love it when it's freshly roasted - and even cold in sandwiches - but I don't like it reheated AT ALL!

I like the taste of turkey, but it not my absolute favorite thing to eat. I make a drunken turkey each year for Thanksgiving, and doing this, my turkey has always come out very moist and tender. Apparently, everyone that came over for dinner really enjoyed it because I didn't have very much turkey left over this year.

I love turkey. Even when it's not Thanksgiving, I love having turkey in amny different ways.
During normal times, you can find me having a turkey burger at BJ's or maybe a nice turkey sandiwch with all the fixings. We even made the switch to substitute ground turkey in the recipes that we have which need some ground beef; it's a lot leaner and the taste is pretty comparable.
And on Thanksgiving, it's a lot of fun. We deep-fry the turkey; it might not be the best for us, but it does keep it moist. Then, we use it for days. My mom has a good recipe for turkey macaroni salad, and she also makes a good turkey soup, too.

I like turkey and ham. The turkey has to be cooked (lots of basting & spice rub) before it's cooked & while it's cooking. If that's not done it can get very dry and tough. The dark meet on the turkey is very moist which you may want to try. Turkey is good for the holidays, but it's also good during other times, too. Some people deep fry the turkey & they say it's pretty moist (the ones I've talked to). Have a nice day.

Hi Sheepie,
Well I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving day with your family, did you help your mom with the cooking? I love turkey and I like to cook it myself ans my turkey is not dry, but when I go to my sisters' or my friend for Christmas I find their tukey quite dry, though my sister's aren't that bad.

Hi! I'm not a big fan of turkey. I am Asian and we usually don't celebrate Thanksgiving back home. No traditional turkey, so to speak. Last year, when I was new here in the States, my sister just bought a big roasted chicken for both of us. She's also not fond of turkey. Yesterday (Thanksgiving Day), we got invited to a friend's house. She's European and she does not eat turkey, either. She baked salmon for us. It was great!
I do have times when I eat turkey, it just depends on my mood.
Happy thanksgiving and happy myLotting!

My ex husband didn't like turkey much, although I love it. So one Thanksgiving we and the kids (who were 10 and 9 at the time) used my bread machine and made pizza dough and each made our own pizza. That was fun! Another time we had crown roast, and one year he made prime rib. It was fun to break tradition!

I love turkey especially the dark meat part that most people don't like. To me it is the moistest and had the most flavor

Hello Sheepie,
I like turkey ham, turkey sandwiches and other normal stuff made with turkey and during the holidays, I like the kind of turkey everyone makes FOR the Holidays!
My friend taught me the secret to having a moist turkey that falls apart...just bake it up-side-down and flip it back over before serving it. You have to be very careful when you flip it though or else it all falls apart, because it's so moist and good!
Try it, you'll see.
Happy MyLotting!!!
