I'm not a pet person, I don't like looking after an animal or pet. Don't call me selfish I just don't want that responsibility, I'm too outgoing to be nuturing a sick pet or flushing a goldfish down the toilet. I've never been a dog person either so I think its innate.

It is not selfish at all. Having or wanting pets is a personal choice, and you know that they don't fit in your lifestyle, and there is nothing wrong with that. What I don't like is people who know a pet will not fit in to their lifestyle and they go and get one anyways, and neglect the animal, or end up putting it down, or letting it go because they couldn't handle it. But I respect your choice to not have a pet, it is right for you.

I just came across your discussion and even though it's a month old, I just had to respond when I saw it was about pets!
I love all animals, but I must confess that dogs are my favourite too! I have two of my own - a Shih-Tzu and a Lhasa Apso and they give me so much enjoyment. Dogs are very loyal and loving, always want to please you, and they think we are absolutely marvelous! They communicate with us in their own way, and they ask nothing back except our love and care. Pretty amazing!

I am a dog person! I think dogs are so wonderful. I love the way they can communicate with you, without even speaking. They have this wonderful ability to tell you exactly what they need with their eyes and body language. They love you on bad days and good days!

I don't have any pets at the moment, because we're in a rental right on a really busy road, so it isn't particularly safe. We're planning on moving soon too, so uprooting a pet would be cruel.
I really want a cat though. When I get my next house, the first thing I'll be doing after getting moved in is calling the RSPCA to see about getting a rescue cat of my own.
I've looked after strays in the past, but have only ever had a rabbit and hamsters as 'proper' pets, so I'm really excited about getting a cat.

I am like you, I love all animals, but prefer dogs, especially medium size dogs like beagles which are not too small, but not too big either..Though because we do have a large dog and she is has her stupid puppy habits, I am beginning to like my daughters cat, more and more..

I love dogs and I have one, a yellow Labrador named Maxie. She had been with me for almost two years now and she now stays with my boyfriend. I bought it as a gift for him 2 Christmases ago. She is now huge and very healthy. She likes to play a lot with the flying disk. I miss her sometimes because I frequently see her. She is also so sweet.

I like cats because they are always there and require less attention. I know its mean to say it but you can use cats. You don't have to give them a lot and they can make you REALLY happy.
