I would like to meet Oscar Wilde because I love the humour in his plays and also George Orwell whose works I love, 1984 and Down and out in Paris and London, being two of my favourites. These are two of the writers who inspire me to write and whose work I read often. It would be so good to be able to discuss their work with them and to hear what inspired them to write.

I'd love to meet Stephen King. There's a guy who must have some pretty crazy ideas to be able to write the novels that he does. I think he would be really interesting to talk to, and discuss some of those things with. I'd like to meet James Herbert for the same reason.

I have been pretty lucky. I have met a LOT of writers I wanted to meet, tho I'm sorry I failed to meet Andre Norton before she passed away. I have gone to science fiction conventions and met a lot of the writers I love. Anne MacCaffrey is one I really love and I got to meet her in 1983. Then I met a lot at the NASFC in 1985, including Orson Scott Card, and I've met him a few more times since then. A few years ago, I got to meet Robert J. Sawyer after reading a few of his books and loving them. I got to meet one writer before she got published and after because I was friends with her sister from my church, her name is Dusty Rainbolt.

Yes you have been lucky :-) Were you able to ask them any questions about their writing? It would be interesting to know how these writers come up with their ideas and what motivates them to keep writing. Thanks for your comment :-)

I guess I don't ask those kinds of questions. I want to know what they are doing next, how they came up with their current stories, but I'm not sure they can tell you. I think a large part of why they keep writing is because that's their job, Mercedes Lackey talked about how she WORKS on her writing. She gets up, goes out and deals with her rescued birds with her husband, has breakfast and writes. She stops midday, deals again with the birds that need it, eats a bit and writes all afternoon. Late afternoon, she stops and she and her husband go out and work/feed the birds again, treating injuries, etc. Then she makes dinner and sometimes she goes back to her writing. Now, she doesn't do the same story the whole day, she says. She works the new stuff in the morning, reworks stuff in the afternoon and maybe works on outlines for new stories or going over manuscripts in the evening. She works hard on her "job." She writes with her husband, Larry Dixon, who is also an artist, she also writes with other writers, helping them if she can. So, if you want to be a writer, you have to work hard.

Stephen King and Chuck Palahniuk, their works and imagination inspire me and I would love to see the "non-scary" or "weird" part of them.

I would love to meet all my favorite writers. One is Ken Follett, he’s my number one favorite. Next is Robert Ludlum but I’m afraid he passed away long time ago. I also would love to meet Judith McNaught, the very romantic novelist. Julie Garwood and Janet Evanovich are also in my list. They’re all my favorites. John Grisham is famous and I’ve read some of his books and would love to read more.

In my case it would have to be Stephen King! I love his books and I love reading horror! I would love to meet him and pick his brain over a cheese sandwich or something! That guy is full of ideas and he always seems to be hard at work on another horror adventure! I too like the idea of becoming a published writer and so I guess I'm trying to use my imagination a bit!! Andrew

I would like to meet Chino Moreno for his style of lyric writing and singing in The Deftones and Team Sleep. Timothy Leary and others of his generation would be cool to meet and talk about ideals with and the members of Tool to discuss and perhaps play music with them.

I love detective/murder mystery stories in general, but I especially love reading Agatha Christie and Kathy Reichs.
