Hello chandu245!
If you want the best antivirus on the internet, go for the top three : Bitdefender, ESET and Kasperksy. If you will try to do some research, these are the ones that come up consistently in many antivirus raters. However, these antiviruses are not free - they are just free for some months.
I tried those three ones, and the most lightweight antivirus is ESET. Bitdefender and Kaspersky slowed down my computer - I even got a good hardware.
If you don't want to spend a dime for these, then you have to go for Avira and AVG. But of course the paid ones above are still preferrable than those free ones.

I think,(kaspersky antivirus) is best but for now i am using (symentic 9.0)which is quite fine because i have norton,s virus updates patch so it makes my pc run smoother and faster but if you want the paid version of any antivirus then i would suggest you Kaspersky ,however i am using pirated version .....

Before I;m into Norton Antivirus but i notice I still get viruses so I switch to avast. My bro said Norton is very known to hackers that's why its not reliable anymore. Avast is still new and I don;t have any problems with it.

I am using the AVG free version which seems to be pretty good. I don't know how it compares with the others. Cheers!!

The best anti-virus is common sense, but if you need a program to help protect you Avast, Anti-Vir, and AVG are all 100% free and quite effective.
I personally use Avast, but a lot of people use the other two as well

It depends on what you're planning on doing. If you're a person that wants maximum protection and is prone to getting viruses, I would suggest getting something of very high quality, such as Kaspersky. On the other hand, if you just need something for home use that works but isn't as powerful, I would go for something like Avast.
I currently used Avast on my laptop and it works great. It doesn't slow down my computer and keeps it well protected. It's free too. ^_^ I would definitely recommend it. I used Norton Antivirus in the past but slowed down my computer significantly for some reason.
Think about what you need the antivirus for. Personally, I wouldn't go for something overpowered if you're just planning to use the antivirus for home use. I would suggest going with one that's good, but not *too* strong because that's just unnecessary in my opinion. =P
