global warming,a good thing ?

I live on the water on the west coast of florida on the gulf,i was just sitting outside enjoying the water,fish jumping here and there and it occured to me that some of the beaches on the gulf have been closing because of pollution,red tide will be here pretty soon killing fish and washing them up on shore stinking up the beaches,choking the snow birds who come down every year.I was just wondering if the melting ice cap's might be a good thing as the fresh water raised by the warming is well let's say replacing some of the bad water with good fresh unpolluted water.

What you are presuming is absolutetly wrong (forgive me for being quite blunt).
You see, ice-caps and -bergs in Antartica alone hold upoto 60% of the world'sFresh Water. Another 11% Fresh Water is held by the world's-glaciers.
Now, what is exactly happening is that due to human-induced Global Warming (that is leading to Cliate Chage), they are melting ... leading to the rise of sea-level, water ... It is widely feared that by 2050 or so,when the Antartica-region will be free of any ice, the sea-level will rise upto 65 feet!
Do you know what will happen, then? the gulf (where you stay) will become an underwater-zone! All low-lying region around the world will become inhabitabal!Fresh water will mix with already-polluted salty-sea water; making the availablity of it (fresh water) a distant dream!

Sea level is supposed to rise by 65 feet?!? I only live 54 feet above sea level!
Well, there go my plans for a happy retirement I suppose (I'm only 35).

I would not know if global warming will have some good effects although nature rarely does anything without a reason. I do believe though that man can do something about pollution which causes red tide. If we limit our greed somewhat and think about the big picture, there might not be any great catastrophes like fish kill, etc. Cheers!!

Global Warming is a good thing...it keeps this planet alive.
EXCESSIVE Global Warming is a bad thing...it makes this planet hostile.

Global warming is bad especially for us who lives in the islands. A lot of islands have disappeared already and some people (plus plants and animals) have been displaced by its effects. Global warming is simply not the solution to those problems. Humans just pretty much have to clean up after themselves.
