R.I.P. Mr. Skully. Poisoned - Why Are People So Cruel

Mr. Skully and Boycy.............................. - Mr. Skully and his best friend Boycy the rotty

For those of you who remember my friends Rottweiller who walked around with a kitten on his head which looked so cute I have been informed by my friend that Mr. Skully the kitten had been poisoned and so have a number of other cats in our neighbourhood, vet believes it is from anti-freeze. I have uploaded another pic of this delightful kitten for you all to see. My question is why are people so cruel, even if they don't like ats, what harm is a little kitten doing to them to deserve such a death. This is so sad but now I am also mad and if I find out who it is I will be marching them straight to the police station as to me this is criminal and they should be punished. Enjoy cat Heaven Mr. Skully, you had a short but extremely eventful life. Even made famous on the Lot. R.I.P. Huggles. Ellie:D

Hi ellie333 Aww that's really sad! Why would people do such a thing? Anyway I saw my neighbours cat using my front patch of grass as a toilet the other day, yes I was annoyed, no I don't have cats of my own and no I wouldn't do anything to harm the animal! RIP Mr Skully!

Hi Humbug, Yes cats can get annoying if they constantly use someone else garden to go toilet but at the same time don't deserve to die for it. I have two cats of my own but I know for a fact if they are not indoors they are in the field as they avoid gardens and people when out as much as possible even though Sybil is such a people person indoors she steers clear, perhaps someone in the past has hurt her as more and more people do seem to have no respect for animals. The most I have ever done is throw a bucket of water at a neighbours cat that kept coming in through the window and eating my cats food. Huggles. Ellie :D

I've never done so much as that either!! I'm not too bothered about the cat next door because I don't use the grass out the front for anything and it is my fault I haven't cut the grass but at this time of year I'm not going to get out and do it either! I think I have only cut it once this year because of the weather!

That's so sad, and so needlessly cruel. What a wicked person, and how horrible for your friend. I loved your discussion about the kitten on the rottweiller's head, and the cool photos. I can't answer you question about why people are so cruel, completely beats me. RIP Mr Skully.

Hi Liquorice, Yes it is so very sad, so many people couldn't wait to see the photo of Mr. Skullly on top of Biycy the rottweillers head as it was the first other animals my puppy Ziggy met on his first walk out and what a strange but adorable sight to see. As well as the humans mourning Mr. Skully, the dog is all out of sorts too bless him. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi ElicBxn, My dog is only ever allowed out without me but my cats have always been allowed outdoors and go to play in the field over the back as I live in quite a rural area. It is almost unheard of here in the UK to have house cats, most have catflaps to let themselves in and out with once past the kitten stage. Huggles. Ellie :D

That is so sad ellie I am really upset by this. We had two cats and I think that both of them were poisoned by someone too. Tiger was a tabby and he suddenly became ill, his fur started falling out and he went so thin and then he started to bleed from his mouth it was awful. We ended up having to have him put down, my other cat became ill not long after and we were going to take him to the vet but he got out and we have never seen him since and we think he went off to die somewhere. I think there are some very cruel people about.

Oh Gemini, I know you have said that you will never get pets again, well except for the snakes and having something like this happen to too loved family cats I am not surprised you feel that way. It is proving that they were delibrately poisoned though isn't it. Human beings are the cruelest of all creatures as they harm without need at least animals ahrm and kill to either protect or feed eh! Poor Tiger and I am sure you are right about your other cat as they do take themselves off to die quietly sometimes. Huggles. Ellie :D

To be honest I said that after I lost my dog, we already had the cats when I lost my girl but I detached from them a bit it was like I felt that if I was not close to them it would not hurt as much when they went. I said that once they had gone I would have no more but the way it happened was horrible. The trouble is we have a lot of rats around where we live so it is either a case of someone put poisoned food out intended for rats and my cats ate it or else they were fed up of cats coming in their gardens. I cant prove anything either way but people should be careful if they put laced food out because they cannot guarantee the right thing is going to eat it. But humans are cruel you are right about that.

Oh, Ellie ... I'm so sorry to hear about dear little Mr Skully. There are some disgusting creatures in the world, and I desperately hope you and your neighbours are able to find the one who did this and report him/her to the authorities. There have been some horrendous cases of animal cruelty in Australia over the past year or two, and laws are becoming more severe (though never severe enough) regarding them. My Mum has actually stopped watching certain current affairs, news and reading papers because there's sure to be an upsetting story which stays in her mind for days afterwards. Safe journey, Mr Skully ...

Hi Guybrush, I wish I could be like your mum and only receive positive input instead of watching the news and the current afairs programmes that do in fact concentrate on the awful and bizarre situations but I do find I like to know what is going on rather than not know but can understand how it must play on her mind bless. Yes safe journey Mr. Skully. Huggles. Ellie :D

I could sit and cry over the senseless brutality. I hope that the culprit is tracked down and prosecuted!!! I am so very careful about the use of anti freeze around my herd (I have four inside cats, four dogs and 5 outside cats that I have sharing my life). To hear of some sick person (that title is too good for them) who is going out of their way to poison animals makes me want to take them by the throat and squeeze!!! My brother was an animal abuser and killer. I haven't seen him in 25 years, but I still could blast him off the face of the earth for his treatment of animals. Actually, let me know when you find the murder and I will deal with the s.o.b! No one has the right to harm such special creatures...they are a gift to the world and we should treat them with love, kindness and respect. I will pray for Mr. Skully and also pray that the fiend is found and prosecuted.

Hi Loverbear, Thank you for your prayers for Mr. Skully, Boycy his rottweiller friend is very sad and missing him right now. I could do unmentionable things to the person responsible, if only we could find out who. I can't believe there really are people that cruel in the world as to want to delibrately hurt innocent animals. Huggles. Ellie :D

Cute picture, like'em! Sounds like someone has a leaking radiator to me. I would not assume that someone is trying to poison animals. I would watch to see if animals are licking the front or underneath a car. Then ask the person to please get their radiator fixed. Maybe they can't afford to fix the radiator, but over time, the leak will cost money and if you have wells and not public water, the animals may not be the only ones getting radiator fluid.

Hi Wintersedge, I have looked out at all the local cars and they all seem fine but the local vets has had a number of cats killed in this way so they feel someone is leaving out delibrately, cannot prove of course. Thanks for making me aware though. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hello ellie333. I cannot imagine someone that is so cruel that they 1--would even think about killing a living being, 2--would think it was okay to take someone else's pet and kill it. How awful. I would be just like you, vigilant about where the animals in the neighborhood are going and watching for suspicious characters. I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Skully. I'll check out his pic right now. Take care.

Hi PearlGrace, Mr. Skully and Boycy are two well known characters in the neighbourhood as Mr. Skully used to hitch a ride on the rottweillers head and it was just so funny to see. It is very sad indeed and now I am worrying over my own cats too as there have been a fair few in the neighourhood recently but we only became aware through the vets when Mr. Skully was taken there. My friend thought he had been runover at first but no poisoned by anti-freeze. He is at peace now though bless but I would like to find out who it is that has been so cruel. Huggles. Ellie :D

There will be people hurt and kill dogs. Some are afraid of being barked by dogs, and some just kill them for their meat. I hate these people, they try to steal others' dogs, kill them and sell the meat. God~

Some people are just hateful. I am sorry to hear that this happened. We had a mother cat that we feel was poisoned as well. I think someone left anti-freeze out or didn't clean it up. I think it may have been done malitiously.
@ellie333 (21016)
1 Dec 08
Hi Celticeagle, the thing is we can never prove whether it was an accident or delibrate but the vet has had so many cases he feels it is being left out for them as cats are attracted to anti-freeze. It is sad that there are such cruel people in the world. Huggles. Ellie :D

My regards to mr. Skully. Do you know if cats like antifreeze and will drink it straight? Is it possible that someones car is leaking this, or someone was careless with the antifreeze and the cats have access? Is there snow in the area now? Maybe look for the tracks the spill and or leak?

Hi David, Thankfully no snow, very cold. It is a possibility it has been left out by accident but the vet seems to have come across thisbefore and has had many cases recently. I think cats do like anti-freeze though cannot be too sure on that one. I just hope my cats stick to going out to the field and then coming home and don't wander off down Mr. Skullys end in case. Hola Ellie, Now that I think about it seems as if I heard that it has maybe a sweetness to it that either cats dogs are atracted to. If they are thirsty and wandering and come across a poddle from a leaky radiator? One way to find out for sure... Have agreat week! R.I.P. Skully. He will always be remembered on the lot.

Aw, what an adorable picture! And does it ever look like they were buddies too! And hopefully whereever the kitten got the antifreeze, maybe the person wasn't thinking when using it, it could have leaked from their car, OR maybe when they were using road salts and it somehow got mixed into it. BUT, I do know there's a new "Safety sand" out there on the market, brand new, called "No traction" I think it's called. I saw the inventor on "Dragons Den", and they were very impressed, as am I. They use volcanic rock, apparently it's reusable, completely harmless to pets and other animals that may be in the area, and the way he showed an example, is that he had a beta fish, in the bowl, with the water, ferns, and the product in the bowl as well. No harm whatsoever, and didn't make the water "smokey" or dusty. I hope to find some near my place or hopefully at the convenience store across from my house. But I am sorry for your friends loss, and just hope that no one intentionally did anything to harm the animals.
@ellie333 (21016)
1 Dec 08
Hi Candymarie, This safety sand sounds fantastic, I will look out for it. I sincerely hope it wasn't on purpose but the vets has had so many from our area he believes that someone has left some out rather than an odd accidental spill which is sad. Glad you liked the pic, the rotty is missing Mr. Skully dreadfully bless. Huggles. Ellie :D

There is only one safe place for kitten or cat, at home. Wild cats are different and acting different. Household cats can be under people and other cats attack. When I was in Europe last October, they showed group of teenagers making cat in fire...I was crying aloud...they didn't even arrest those boys... My cat is only indoor cat, she is safe and happy. Maybe I am overprotective, but I have hear so many stories about killed cats. Cat accidents, mean people, brutal teens etc... I am sorry for Mr Skully.... HUGS

Hi Polachicago, Here in the UK domestic cats do go out and we don't have wild cats as such but I agree a safer place is in the home but cats like to be out and climb and stuff, my own two go over the fields not near peoples gardens but Mr. Skully was obviously a stay in gardens near home type cats bless him. I just hope we find out who it is that is doing it as there have been many cases. Huggeles. Ellie :D

I am pretty well known for preferring animals to most human beings I have met. I honestly feel that people who are cruel to animals have no souls. I would like the people who were responsible for this act of cruelty suffer the same fate themselves. I also keep in mind that "what goes around comes around" so they will hopefully suffer in some manner.

Ahhh how sad. Rottweiler caught my eye because we have 2 of them and the girl is pregnant. I hope this kitten accidently drank the poison and someone didnt intentianally do that because if they did then they don't need to be walking the streets because they say those that harm animals will harm people.

Oh ellie, This just breaks my heart. Remember it wasn't so ling ago my little Bogie was poisoned. How can people kill helpless littile animals like that? If I were you I'd do whatever it takes to find the killer too and turn them over to the authorities. It is a criminal act tp abuse much less kill an animal. I didn't prusue Bogies killer because I think it was done out of ignorance. It still angers me though and hurts my heart. I hope someone finds the person or persons doing this before someone else loses a beloved pet. leenie
