A commopn question iam hearing from sufferers of allergic rhinitis."Can i move to some place where my allergies will go away"? Otherthan allergic(animals, pollen, food)and infectious (viruses) ,non-allergic rhinitis also exists - due to smoke, airpollution, exhaust fumes, aerosol sprays, fragrance, paint fumes, etc. Allergist-immunologists seldom recommend moving to another area as a cure for allergies.Interesting where to go.........................?

I have 7 allergies - dust, dust mites strawberry, goat's milk, cotton linters, cockroaches, and shrimps. I'd pay just to remove my allergies hahaha, unfortunately there's no cure according to my allergy-immunologist. Whenever I am exposed to these allergens, uticaria appears or the red rashes on my skin. Sometimes, I am having difficulty breathing. I always carry with me my antihistamines. The only way for you to escape your allergies is not minimize the exposure to these allergens. If we cannot eliminate them, at least minimizing them would reduce our allergic symptoms.

I have worked as a toxicologist and immunologist and also have allergies. My biggest problem is soy, peanuts, corn, and potatoes, including smelling their fragrance. As others have commented, moving would only give you temporary relief until you developed new allergies to new things... EXCEPT IF YOU LIVED IN A TRUE FROZEN WASTELAND. DO YOU WANT TO TRY LIVING ALONG IN AN IGLOO? Anyway, my food allergies usually trigger sinus congestion especially when I lie down. Then Spring of 2008 I had an episode of smelling popcorn for a couple of minutes. Several hours later I sank into being sick for 10 days! A week after this episode I bought a respirator (face mask with 2 filters)that covers my nose and mouth. (I had to shave my beard to get a seal...) Anyway, when outside I wear it around my neck, and if I smelled any food aromas I would don the respirator and had my best summer in years. It is a hassle and it makes people nervous. I made a little allergy tag I wear around my neck. My 1/2 facemask is grey R5700 facemask, cost $70 (USA) pairs of replacement filters are $21 and I am on my 7th or 8th set. At www.aosafty.com one can view all kinds, including full face that would protect ones eyes.

Well, the idea is that what is in the envornment is different if you move so by moving to a different place, you have new things to become allergic to... but for a bit you will be allergy free. Don't, I repeat, DON'T move to central Texas!

I moved to San Francisco and my allergies disappeared. The fog comes in every night and when it gos away in the morning, it takes all the allergy stuff in the air away with it.
