Sourav Ganguly was better than Dhoni. Reasons are: 1) He had a very difficult task of making a compatible team wherein Dhoni has got a readymade bunch of talented guys. Ganguly had to extract talent from the guys. 2) Ganguly was more aggressive and supported his team mates strongly.
Infact, there should not be any comparision between Both of them as both are successful and have a very different way of loooking towards the game

Well friend it's fact that Dhoni got ready made team. But Sourav did so many things for team to get improve but he forgot his form while batting and bowling. If we calculate we won't get that much of reliability about Sourav's performance.

I think whenever a player starting to play a few games and get experienced a bit, he would obviously know how to manage and how to do captaincy. I think its all the same with everyone. I think MS Dhoni is a bit better than Ganguly because Ganguly doesn't always know how to rotate bowlers. For example, in a test match, if a fast bowler is bowling for a long spell and take some wicket, if he given them an other over he will get tiered and it will be a problem for him to bowl for the next day of the test match. These tips can be picked up only if a captain is a bowler. But Dhoni seems to be matured enough to pick these details and I think Dhoni is better than Ganguly.
