Generation of nuclear energy has been found to be helpful in so many aspect. But it also has negative aspect, such as the creation of nuclear weapons. If you are to be a president of a particular nation, how would you address this issue? Would you encourage its use or look for alternative source?

I very much oppose nuclear energy. It is expensive, unsafe, and finite. A single nuclear plant takes years and billions of dollars to build. It takes around 30 years to just pay off the construction. By the time it takes to build a single nuclear plant, we could have used that money to increase the efficiency of alternative, renewable sources. Also, how is there a way to ensure that we will handle the waste properly for hundreds of thousands of years(halflife of uranium)? Humans have been shown to have been responsible in many areas, there are sure to be accidents in that time. There have already been cases (1999, Kansas) where nuclear products and waste have just been left out carelessly. Finally, nuclear power will not last us forever. Uranium is a finite source. We will be in this exact situation we are now with oil in 100 years, or however long it is. That is very irresponsible for future generations. We need to find a renewable source of energy, like solar, that will never run out. While solar will eventually run out, I do not think we will have to worry when the time comes.:D For these reasons I strongly oppose nuclear power.
