When I was in grade 8 my english teacher brought up the whole conspiracy ideas. To explain conspiracies he brought up an example using the government. He said "what if infact they did find a cure for cancer or some sort of deadly disease, but they do not release it because the the deaths from sickness is controlling our population, and if all these people ended up living, that the world would be unbelievably over populated. Do you think that they actually do anything like that?
Give you're opinions.

I would hope our government would have the sense to give us a limit to the number of children we may have, like they do in China, rather than let sick people die needlessly. Then, at least there would be no suffering, really. I think there would be more abortions then, but hopefully that would be reduced if people are smarter and more well-educated in schools, which is also the government's job. We should not be neglected!

I think the government has taken on enough jobs already that isn't their responsibility. And I also think the people have let them. It's easier than doing it yourself. I do not believe our education is the responsibility of our government as a lot of other things are not their responsibility. We have too much government as it is. That is not what our forefathers planned for us. We need to go back to the basics and start letting the people be in charge. Government by the people for the people. Not government for the people and let the people sit back and do nothing.

YoungInLove,
What you're proposing, with the forced birth control, is pretty much a violation of human rights.
As to determining who is fit to have children, who would be the determining authority on that one and what would be the criteria? It's not a good idea to give government that much control and while I am all a woman's right to have an abortion, I am also for a woman's right to NOT have an abortion, which would not be there if the government were permitted to make those calls.

The problem with a conspiracy is, in order for it to be successful, everyone has to keep their mouth shut...for a very long time. Since we all know that this is impossible for many reasons, I don't believe in most of them.
If you look at the Watergate conspiracy, for example, which brought about the resignation of Richard Nixon as President, his administration would have gotten away with their web of internal spies, secret surveillance, dirty tricks, breakins and coverups except that someone talked. Someone who's code name was Deep Throat talked to a couple of reporters and lead them, piece by piece, to the evidence they never would have found otherwise. It took more than 30 years for his identity to be revealed.
For one reason or another people will eventually talk. The person who comes out with a cure for an incurable disease will be rich beyond his dreams and respected among his peers. There is nothing the government can offer that would compare.

spalladino,
I think times have changed and if someone does speak-out, they are quickly silenced. With all of the distractions we have, I'm sure that person could easily be glossed over.
Just look to our latest presidential race for an example of that. Think about Ron Paul. He made sense and a lot of people STILL have never heard of him.
One author pretty-much spelled it out in his book "Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About", but not everyone knows about this book, or the information in it. It's changed my life and I highly recommend it.
There's also the Zeitgeist movies. Zeitgeist Addendum (at www.zeitgeistmovie.com ) pretty-much lays out how bailouts are highly profitable, but you have to see it to understand. It was made before all the bailouts were done so you have to put 2 and 2 together.

There is a theory out there that works exactly opposite to what you suggest... I can't think of the name right now so I couldn't tell ya the source but I do remember someone saying that if you saturate the population with one or the other stories and/or situations long enough, when it actually happens, mass population would be ignorant to it or just don't care... Almost like the "New World Order" suggests, they're saying most of the disasters are manufactured... Governments way of creating a "fictional" or "non-fictional" enemy and/or disaster is to saturate the mass population through mass media about the certain threat, then to appear as cover up or clean up, so to speak, to come out looking like a hero... That way, people will flock to government, in turn government gaining more & more control over general public, by manufacturing a disaster & "talking" or "saturating" mass population with some sort of conspiracy story to cover up their true agenda...

I am a huge conspiracy theorist and question everything that is said to me and half of what I see...lol. I believe the government is responsible for alot of things unknown to the general public, and because it is easier to keep the public ignorant to these things- thats just the way it stays!

wamweatherwoman,
Have you read the book "Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About"? It talks about big-pharma and how we can get-by with just eating right and that medications cause us to need more medications, which keeps that business profitable.
Also, have you seen the Zeitgeist movies? They are at www.zeitgeistmovie.com

It's kindda funny I ran into this discussion because the other day, I was reading about a big conspiracy theory called, "New World Order". It talks about how majority of the disasters are caused under control of Governments. They talk about creating big disasters to bring people together to obey governments & also to control populations. Try this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_World_Order_(conspiracy) Pretty interesting reading.

sk66rc,
If you liked a book about the New World Order, you'll probably enjoy the Zeitgeist movies...they're extremely contriversial and most people I've talked to can't get through the first of the three parts, but if you can, it's worth it.
The Zeitgeist movies are at www.zeitgeistmovie.com

i have heard this too. I've also heard that they don't list all of the ingredients in food labels because they think that 'the general public doesn't need to know everything thats in their food.' They've also poisoned towns without telling anyone just to see what would happen to the people that lived there. Like flying planes over the towns & dropping some kind of poison or something.

At my country, sometimes government lies to its citizens to make a conducive situation. For example, at the middle of 2008, price of oil is increasing, government increases the price of oil, and its citizens protest to government about increase in oil prices. Government make issue to handle its citizens. Government said that government should increase the price of oil to stabilize our economic. I think, it is relevant if government lies to its citizens for positive advantages.

You did not know this. The government has been lying to us for decades. It's no big secret. What else is new?

The government lies about everything. They lie so much that sometimes they end up telling the truth. I doubt they could hide something like that since the rich people who got cancer would make sure they got treated by any cure they had. I doubt they could keep that a secret for very long at all. Besides if they really wanted to lower the population growth they would not be trying to ban abortion.
I doubt that there is much they could do to reduce population growth now as it is growing too fast but cancer is certainly not the best way to achieve that.

No the government isn't lying to us, they are just ommiting the truth. Its the same thing to them. I don't know about all those conspiracy theories, there are a million of them, it would be fun to research them though.

giftfiddleplayer,
If there hasn't been a movie made about it, it's not worth knowing right? Then here are some things worth knowing: Zeitgeist and Zeitgeist Addendum which are at www.zeitgeistmovie.com
If you want to research conspiracy theories, this would be a good start.

I am sure the government lies to us about many things. I am not sure it is lying about cures to illnesses though. In one of my business classes we learned that the engine that uses less gasoline was actually in development in the 40's and 50's but it wasn't needed until the 70's, so the knowledge that it had been developed was kept quiet. This was more for supply and demand than for conspiracy however. It wouldn't have been a big seller until it was actually needed during that first time period when people wanted more efficient cars. We were also told that the interstate highways were "sold" to the people as more efficient ways of getting to and from emergency help and for people in general to get from one place to another. The actual reason the government wanted the interstates was for commercial transportation.
I do believe there are many many secrets and lies in the government. Some more serious than others. I definitely believe there is some kind of conspiracy or lying concerning this current election going on that is going to be uncovered eventually and be shocking to many people. I don't know what the full scope of it is, but I believe something is going on. This Obama birth certificate issue is just the tip of the iceberg. Tomorrow could be an interesting day concerning that issue concerning now that the US Court of appeals has ordered him to produce a true birth certificate by tomorrow (Dec 1st). If there is nothing to hide, why is he not doing as ordered?
So, yes, I believe there are many conspiracies and lies within the government. I also believe that sometimes it is necessary to keep the people from panic over things that don't need to produce panic but would. There are also many things within the government that I believe they need to keep secret for our national security. That does not mean I support all their secret things.

capirani,
You might find the book "Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About" an interesting read. It's changed the way I look at food and what I decide to put in my body....and I've never felt better!
