Yes, I have tried it. Sometimes it is the only way to get through the day.
I am sure I don't know something about the story.... but if people are looking to you for some of your strength, why not give it too them? You can help each other through.

Well Jhordie dear, I've experienced doing that in many times of my sad moments and I would say it worked great. So it's one great advice to people who are not happy about their present circumstances. Do as lyrics of this old song of Nat King Cole:
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though its breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, youll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, whats the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, whats the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

Hello, Jhordie.
I understand that it might feel like you have to laugh when you actually want to cry, and smile when you are sad. But why hide your feelings? Don't worry about your enemies. Don't do it just to avoid showing your weaknesses. You should do it if you feel nice, if you feel better with yourself by doing it. I believe that, by smiling when you are sad, you will clean the sadness out of your body. By laughing when you want to cry you will feel better. That's why you should do it. If you do not feel better, then do not do it.
Give your enemies a reason to laugh at you. Show them that you are not perfect. Show them that you are weak. Expose your weaknesses. And don't worry about them laughing. They will soon get all puzzled about why are you exposing yourself like that and how can't you be sad when they laugh at you.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

yup.. I did it once, when i was facing my loved one.. But at that time, she wasn't even my gf, just someone i like.. And it was her birthday then, so i dun wanna spoil the mood.. I had to smile and pretend i was happy and nothing was happening even though there was something in me.. The reason, her bf was there too, and her bf knows everything about me.. Thus, he tried ways and means to make me jealous, but i have no right to do anything..
IN a situation like this, i have no choice but to either leave, or stay and watch in pain, yet pretending to see nothing.. It's not easy at all..

Hang in there, Jhordie! Eventually, it'll work for you.
A wonderful woman I knew once told me we all have to fake it until we make it. If we're overwhelmed by stagefright, but we have to deliver that speech, acting as if we're secure and confident actually makes us feel that way. Faking confidence isn't the easiest thing I've done, but it really does work!

Hi...i know exactly what u r talking abt....i had to do it lots of times in my short life....and believe me, it is quite difficult....i have been thru some worse situation n i was determined not to show my sadness coz of 2 reasons...one coz i didnt want any sympathy & two coz i didnt want to hurt the ppl who love me n truly care 4 me...coz if i am down tht will give pain to them....so i have learned to forget my pain n smile n "act" tht i am alright.....but dunno if thts a good thing or a bad thing, to hide wat u really feel, atleast to ur loved ones
