http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27969265/ parents are writing to the toy companies to beg them to STOP running toy ad's so they dont have to tell their kids they cant afford them!! um what ever happen to the word NO??? kids need to learn that they cant have everything they want!! there have been poor people all the time and just because there are more poor people now we have to stop seeing toy ads?? hmm this sounds a lot like them wanting to ban fast food ads because of kids wanting to eat junk and gain weight!! (another discussion i had) i mean i feel for the parents that cant give their kids everything and it would kill me as a parent to not be able to afford things they want BUT that is life.. am i wrong??

Luckily my 7 year old doesn't bother me for expensive toys. The one thing he wanted SOOOOOOO bad was one of those Plug and Play Pacman games and last month for his birthday he got one and he's happy now.He is into video games and said he just wanted a Q*bert game for Christmas and I can find one of those for him for under $20. But besides that he don't want anything else. So I'll probably buy him some clothes and a few games for Christmas because he don't need or want a bunch of junk . Money is tight this year anyhow so I'm thankful he isn't wanting crazy expensive toys or $400 video game systems. When I was young it was rare that I got what I wanted for Christmas or my birthday. I was thankful for anything I got and I thought it was the coolest thing when I use to get a few coloring books and a box of crayons in my Christmas stocking.. Parents, JUST SAY NO!..LOL

I am a mother that can not afford to buy my kids the things that they really want for christmas. I also have explained to my kids that we can not afford to buy these things. Every time I turn around there are commercials on for the latest and greatest toys on the market. Although my kids are very respectable I can still see it in their eyes that these are the things that they would like. I think that if they put a cap on some of these commercials it would be better. They always put out more commercials during the christmas season. It does kill me not to be able to buy these things for my kids. Also think that they ask Santa for these things, are we now supposed to tell them that Santa is not real?

They should just turn off the T.V. What about me? Every night I see some late night infomercial for some body slimming suit and I want one but I won't spend $60 dollars on one though.

Thats why we ask Santa instead of our poor parents. If Santa doesn't bring it ohh well maybe I was a bad boy.. :(

Can't use the Santa excuse every time because what if that child was honestly good? Then that child would be confused. So it's best to say we can't budget that right now, but maybe Santa will try for something else.

One year, I was so worried Santa wouldn't come because my sister and I had been fighting a lot. I even asked my mom if she thought he would come that year.
