What do you think? When someone has done you a great wrong, and did it over and over again Is it still human to make such a mistake even when you know that you are in the wrong, but still continue doing it? It almost seems that, that phrase is saying, if you have done something wrong, its ok, your just a human. However, the person you did wrong to is EXPECTED to forgive you because then they will have good qualities in him. I am starting to feel that there is a case of double standards involved. I mean, to err IS human, but I don’t think that to forgive is divine. Because people you done wrong to is also a human.

Hello, raclie. Making mistakes is human. Everybody does. Now, making mistakes intentionally is not making mistakes. It is acting badly. An err is the action of making a mistake. A mistake is: "1. An error or fault resulting from defective judgment, deficient knowledge, or carelessness. 2. A misconception or misunderstanding." (The Free Dictionary) A mistake is not a mistake if a person knows that what he is doing is wrong. Therefore, a mistake only happens when we do not know that we are making it. And then the person can forgive, which is also human. There is nothing divine in forgiving. It just shows that you understand that, as a human, everybody makes mistakes. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Yes! To err is human.Because, nobody comes with all the knowledge of doing things in a right way. There are often chances of doing mistakes in the first attempt. To those people,To forgive is divine. You feel pity for them, forgive their mistake and show the way to do right. And if it is going to happen again and again, then It should be punished. You need not care your divinity.

It is not that nobody does mistakes and so we say that "To err is himan". As human we do make mistakes and we try to learn and improve upon those mistakes. But the one who learns from one's own as well as from somebody else's mistakes often comes out to be winner. Everybody cannot forgive the person who has done mistake and especially if one has suffered a lot due to somebody's mistake. But if one can forgive others it is the devine thing.

Good point there. I agree, to err is human, to forgive isn't always divine, sometimes just out of selfishness, as we know well that after forgiveness, we'd feel happy and realize our value there.
