My English teacher once told me that when we read, it enhances our capacity to think logically and reason out... so the more you read, the more intelligent you become. we should be cautious specially when it comes to reading.. we should read everyday so that we would be able to widen our vocabulary and broaden our minds... so, how often do you read?..

I read everyday. Aside from the kind of reading that we do in order to survive our daily existence, I read for pleasure. My favorite hobby is reading, and I always have a book with me all the time. I usually finished reading 2-4 books a week depending on how busy my schedule is.
So yes, I read often. The increase of vocabulary and the broadening of the mind, for me, are simply secondary to the joy I get from reading, and for a while, losing myself int he world of books.

Your teacher meant well, but it's not always true that reading enhances your capacity to think logically. In fact, most of the reading that most people do is just for entertainment, and it doesn't do anything at all for their thinking ability. In fact, it may dull it. And even the most informative reading does not increase your intelligence. Sorry to disillusion you, but intelligence is determined to a very large extent by genetics. You can become better informed by reading, but you can't improve your intelligence.

Your Engish teacher is very wise about this. I read every is only for a little while. I do believe it broadens my mind and vocabulary.

Everyday. If I don't read this discussion, I would not have been able to respond to it. I'm currently reading The Money Diet and books on how to toilet train my daughter.
